Hasn't rained at all here today, lovely and sunny in sussex. All bulbs in, grass raked of leaves and acorns.  So many acorns this year, does that mean a bad winter?image

My trees aren't very big yet fb, about 20years. Doesn't take long to empty them. Hazelnuts first, then the  walnuts,  then the acorns

I rarely see a hazelnut. There might be one or two hiding on the corkscrew hazelnut.

No walnuts around here. They make up for it by eating the apricots before they are ready.

  • We had squirrels last year, perhaps they've gone on their hols!

  • Evening all..... My squirrels are so fat they broke my bird table!!! They are gorging on acorns and the sweet chestnuts that are making my garden look like an alien planet! they are so fat right now I expect to see them falling out the trees! They are in fine voice as well tonight..... The badgers are also quite fat atm bless them... Let's face it we all like that that stuck to your ribs food at this time of year so who can blame them...

My email notifications have gone again, just when it was going so well. And I saw someone said a thread had disappeared. Hope there aren't going to be tech problems again.

I've not had email notifications for months Busy-Lizzie but I just check Followed Threads - the thread that disappeared was Tea's hedge thread but it's been removed for non tech reasons.

If its a hard winter I might need a recipe for fat squirrel stew. image

I'd fatten a pig for christmas but I think the neighbours might complain. Before the new houses were built, there used to be a farm (now a housing estate), at the top of my garden. the pig stys were under the oak tree. I bet they were  happy pigs.
