It's a lovely day here, lovely weather and GG is back... I should have known your brief absence was down to your busyness. I feel quite energised... friends coming tomorrow and will be experimenting with a very slow roasted lamb shoulder.
Morning all, gosh some of you get up early. I'm late to bed and late to rise, a joy of being over 60! Don't mind being over 27, those days were filled with babies and nappies, loved them though, but not now.
Happy birthday Fairygirl and anyone else with a birthday.
Chicky, the boot has Minstrels and fruit pastels, Cadbury's chocolate (which the French mistakenly think is inferior), crumpets, malt loaf, hot cross buns, curry pastes and other English goodies packed around the plants on the way back from England. You need something to stop the plants falling over!
WW, yum, love slow roast lamb. For the first few hours I sit it on chopped red onions, garlic and rosemary, more on top, on a sheet of alu foil. Pour in white wine and some stock, wrap it up in the foil. Then, when nearly done unwrap it, make the gravy with the juice and complete the cooking with it unwrapped. But I expect you have your own recipe.
Gardening today if it doesn't rain. And putting naughty horses in paddock with mended fence.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Sounds lovely Lizzie. I do similar but use Oregano not Rosemay, no onion but add a chopped lemon...in fact not similar at all
Good luck with naughtie ones.
Fairy, thanks I did enjoy my lie in, must have been all the hard work I did yesterday..buying a couple of jumpers is hard work, as is eating salted peanuts.
Theres bits of blue sky showing here. No wind. If it dries up a bit more, I'm going to test out my new ladders and pick the rest of the James Grieve apples.
Last night we ordered tickets for Cirque du soleil in Nottingham. Good seats, expensive, but saves a fortune in not having to go to london, pay hotel costs, parking costs, fight the parking fine after I've paid for parking, and all the attendant london aggro. Being a simple country cousin, the big smoke drives me crackers these days.
Been outside for the last couple of hours, as finally dry in Sheffield. Have been moving various perennials around striving to make borders better. In a way Im pleased that I never quite manage to achieve what I want. If I did how would I spend so much time in the garden.
Next job; spread some old leaf mould over some of the borders to make room for this years fall. Also need to clear out some pots ready for tulips.
Have a great day everyone.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I just put the naughty horse back in the field. Naughty Hannah was testing the fence with her nose as I ran to plug it in, then there was a squeal and they galloped off. Now grazing. Hope they don't find the last small bit which has a fault, the brambles need strimming there.
Now it's raining again so big garden clear up and bulb planting is postponed again. Ironing this afternoon.

Happy Anniversary chick! Hope you get a nice dinner made for you or taken out somewhere
Might risk some washing too Emma- but there's clouds looming. Some tidying up to be done outdoors anyway. Hope you enjoyed your lie in KEF
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
