Verdun, did you see my question on here this morning on dogwood? image

OL  did you get your plant for the  'hole' in the sink image

Lily - can't help on Dogwood, but it was me with the potted acer tips, which go like this ......

apparently acer roots like to touch the edge of their pots, so if you pot up more than a size at a time they put so much effort into growing roots to reach the edge of the new pot that they often expire in the processimage.  So the nursery lady gave me instructions about moving from 2 litre, to 3 litre, to 5 litre to 7 litre - and in year 4 you can release them into the ground.  Any repotting should be done before July, for the same reason - so they have plenty of time to grow said roots.  So far, I am slavishly following her instructions, and have a set of very healthy acersimageimage.

Off for my tea now - will pop back later for a catch up on all those lovely photosimage

Usually my lettuce bolts Verdun so I am just trying to get some growing without bolting then may try it your way, a bit of trial and error for me this year until all the tips from on here sink in!!

Lily, ermmm no.......not yet image I don't know if you saw my post earlier today but I need a yellow flowering Alpine too so need to do a bit of research.  It's for my new 'beach theme' with yellow, tangerine and pinks image Off to the beach on Sunday for shells and pebbles image

I'm off in a minute, probably won't be on tomorrow as at a 2 day meeting and out tomorrow night.

Lily, I hope you've had a good week off and fingers crossed everything is ok at work for you tomorrow xx

Thank you Verdun, yes its midwinter fire, I have 3,   2 are doing fine, have grown and have plenty of leaves. The other does look like its been chewed in parts, but the 'branches' still look as though they are  'putting up a fight'. They are in good moist ground, I shall keep an eye, thank you very much Verdun.image

Chicky thank you, will write that down in my 'little book'. Thank you for advice.image

OL, look forward to seeing new theme. Love seashells.

Have had a good week off, thank you. Feeling better for the break. Not really looking forward to tomorrow, but will see how things go. Hope your meeting goes well. Thanks OLimage

Woody - your garden is looking wonderful - thanks Ggirl for sharing the pics.  Particularly love the camassias - and pleased to see your wildflower patch is thriving.  What has happened to the "alpine roundabout" plan?

mrsG - great arches - they will look wonderful wherever they end up - and clothed with flowers they will be even betterimage.

Lizzie - your GH looks a bit like mine - getting a bit full !  I have permanent staging down one side - high grade stainless steel tables which were once work-canteen catering prep tables from OH's work, that were going in the skip.  He got permission to rescue themimage  Similarly our woodsheds, which were the old bicycle shelters, similarly destined for the skip.  Mr Chicky loves a spot of recycling ...... Sometimes gives the place a slightly Steptoe look, but i go with it, and mostly it worksimage

Oh lucky chicky, that sounds great. The other side of my GH is a wooden potting bench, special offer at hypermarché and a cheap DIY shelving unit that I adapted to be longer and shorter than it would have been.

    Anyone see the Nymans prog?

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
