Forgot to tell you. Saw a beautiful yellow and green grass snake yesterday, sunning itself on the terrace. It was afraid of me. Good thing as I was afraid of it! Dove's Hissing Sid reminded me.

Hi all. Lovely day here, even the still very active mole is not going to spoil things,

Been creating spaces in the borders, ready for autumn planting. The greenhouse is full of stuff I have grown this year that will need a home.

Fidget, well done on booking the holiday, sounds like a great place for diving.

Dove, hope you have a lovely time with your niece, I am sure she could be trained to iron and perform other household chores.

How can you lie there and think of England

We've not had a holiday in 4 years. Not since sister in law said if mother in law died and we were ona remote island, with 2 flights a week, they would have the funeral without us.image

So we've a lot of holiday time to make up.image

My families a bit more friendly about that sort of thing.

The way undertakers and crematoria are booked up these days, they'd have been lucky to get one arranged inside a fortnight Fidget image image

Fidgetbones sounds like you truly deserve a lovely holiday. Dont know why some family members have to be so cruel sometimes, it's like they think they can get away with it cos they are family and you can't drop em! image

When mil died , she died  at 10 am, the funeral was arranged by 3pm, and at 5 sil wanted the details of what money there was. She was  told that she was being a bit previous and it could wait until after the funeral.

Time and a place and all that.

Your sil sounds a wicked woman, very sorry fidgetbones.  Make sure you don't leave her anything if you go first! image Or leave her something well iffy! image

I dont care if I never speak to her again, actually.

I think that to deny a son  being at his own mothers funeral, because we were on an island in the middle of the indian ocean, with two flights a week(fully booked months in advance)is pathetic. She"couldn't hack it" having to wait two weeks for the funeral.

I dont intend leaving anything. I'm planning on spending it all first.image

I've got no kids, and there's no pockets in shrouds. So long as there's enough for a funeral and a knees up, that'll do.
