Nice young man has come to help in the garden today, just can't face any more wet leaves, we have too many trees. When the leaves fell it rained and rained. He's also pruning the apple trees, five old ones. I'm nervous up ladders and hands are getting too arthritic (years of weeding and milking a cow!) for prolonged use of the secateurs.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hope everyone is feeling better now especially as it's friday.
It's a dry day at the moment. the weatherman said that we've had rain every day here in Cornwall since the 3rd of December.
I'm going to make a start on planting the 25 rosa rugosa plants today to make a hedge across a narrow bit of the field. they are said to be rabbit proof as they are very prickly but there are some very tough rabbits around here.
Well I must make a start. 'I may be gone some time'.
Should be working - but just saw my first open daffodil on the grass verge opposite work - and had to share
Stacey, KEF - we have a stumpery (OH's project) - will take some pics this weekend - just a quick word of warning ... Don't underestimate the weight of stumps - we had to get most of ours dragged into place by a diggerman !
This is my pond with a sort of stumpery. (taken last year daffs not out there yet). My son had some trees taken down so asked if the digger could move them beside the pond. I loved the lush planting round the ponds on the great garden revival. Going to try to put more plants in this year. Flag iris is the only plant that seems to do well at the moment.
