    Good morning all.

Achy bones today so taking it easy sowing seeds and just pottering a bit later.

Not so many alliums this year in my garden, seems two large clumps are reduced to half, so must re-establish in autumn as they are a favourite of mine image I'd also love some of the green ones but  they are expensive, no?

    Morning all.

Grey and gloomy here today, what a contrast with the sun yesterday. The GC beckons. I'm thinking I'll cheat and buy courgette plants, still haven't sown them.

I had a Duchess of Edinburgh in a pot, but she died. Didn't know they could be fussy. Nelly Moser has survived being in a pot for about 12 years.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Morning all. Heavy rain overnight, which should have been good for newly placed plants.

Lovely and sunny now, need to get my butt into gear and go for a walk, as my weight continues to rise alarmingly. Its a puzzle really, as I only eat rabbit food.....NOT!

Hoping to plant remaining dahlia tubers directly into the ground later, the majority are in pots in the greenhouse, to be planted out later in May.

Have a lovely day everyone, especially the workers.

    Morning all.

We seem to have a bit of Verdun's weather here, must be because he's my new favourite  imageanother bright sunny day. But the ground had a lovely good soaking overnight.

BL - sorry about the echinacea but you can't change the factsimage

Dove -may the sun will be with you soonimage

Fairy - good deal you got at Homebase, are they a reasonable size?

KEF - enjoy Chessie, used to work there, loved it but did have a mishap one lunchtime in town when my 'holdups' didn't!image If you have trouble filling your skip I can helpimage

W.song, alliums are one of my favourites too, I got some 'green hairy' seed from an open garden last year but not sure how they are doing really, will update if/when.

Chicky, glad your sweetpeas survived the night, mine (if that's what they are) are still pathetic spriggy things. But the sunflowers (aka sweet peas image) are doing well.

Lily - knew I'd missed something to reply to you yesterday, the feather bed was formerly known as the grasses bed but as it has developed it is probably better to rename it! The idea is to have swishy soft tactile plants next to a path where you can run your fingers through when passing. ATM all that's in it are a grass I already had which I've split (we think it's called Stipa arundinacea) and some fennel (some verbena bonariensis cuttings which aren't doing well).

    PD - enjoy your walk

Phew - is that everyone? I'd be a first for me if it is!

    Morning all.

Back in the office today and as you can tell I'm packed out with work. Worst thing is I've forgotten my ID pass so can't even go and get myself a cup of hot water! image

Brought a few more plants for the pond yesterday including water mint - it smells wonderful and has filled the final corner so now all we need to do is get the timber surround built. Also brought five more fish (they look like carrot sticks) and some fresh water mussels that love to feed off the sludge in the bottom of the pond so that'll be interesting to watch.

While still on the subject of ponds I've noticed the finches hang on the (mini) bull rushes and slide down to the waters edge when they want to get a drink. There's a corner full of pebbles that the blackbirds use but I think the finches like to show off. I'm looking at ideas for a better bird bath once we finish revision 325 of the garden design.

Started ripping up one area ready to prep the soil but I have a feeling we'll change the design again before the month is up!

Oh! And other half has not only hinted at the prospect of having chickens he's even dropped a clanger by mentioning where'd be best to put the cage and then going to look to see if the local garden centre* we visited for the first time had any cages in their "shed section".

They didn't. His area of the garden involves my digging out 1 ton of soil to clear the former raised beds / dumping ground. But its progress!!

*Garden centre turned out to be very poor quality with 95% tat 5% plants that left me feeling very smug about because my plants are show quality in comparison.
