Evening all. Had a busy day and just been catching up with all your 'stuff'.
Can't remember everything that's happened but chicky - your OH is excelling himself these days. Looks tremendous
Doc - pix are lovely. I have a pic of the blue glass sculpture on Murano too.
Finished planting up all the border outside the boundary fence after work, and washed pots for the three clematis that miraculously found their way into my basket yesterday along with a couple of bargain packs of lilies and some lily of the valley...
Off to see what's what now that dinner has been consumed.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thats it ..4 tons of concrete removed .. time to redesign the entire front path to the front door (no steps - stupid building regs).. More dry stone walls and lawned areas (or herbaceous beds if I get my way)
One was a new orangy pink, double one with a fat middle, the others were just ordinary pink ones. Loads of a weed that may have been fat hen where I had planted the tulips. I had manured the tulip areas with horse manure. It wasn't there when the tulips were in flower.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hi SGL, I have an alternative to silver soldering the hole in your pot that's just as effective: it's called 'Super Metal' and it's something you can do yourself. I can send you some free of charge if you would like to try it. If you PM me with an address to send it to (doesn't have to be your home address for obvious privacy reasons) I will send some to you with instructions (it's very easy to do). I will also need to know how big the hole is. John H
PS - it's a 2 part paste metal you mix together and apply - takes about 2 hours to harden. I have quite a bit in my workshop so am able to send you sufficient to do the job.
Hello folks - the sun came out and today was a day for watering seedlings, pots, tubs and newly planted shrubs, gazing into the pond and sitting on the terrace watching the birds.
Nasi Goreng for supper and now feet are up
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Evening all. Busy day for me today, had three sons to help me build my new arch with OH at the helm and it was all done in under an hour.
In fact, I was a little surprised just how easy it all slotted into place, although saying that, we had to dig through builder's rubble last week when pre-digging the post holes, hacking and peeling back about twenty layers of rubber material that was part of a flattened roll. We also excavated a house brick, had to chop through several large roots and some coiled wire, all burried beneath the topsoil.
Tomorrow, OH will finish off the details on the arch and I can set to thinking about the next areas: we still have the bottom garden to landscape and a side path that joins middle and bottom plus the veg plot needs redesigning but at least the middle and top gardens are now of a sensible order to enjoy.
So many plants are budding now its quite ridiculous this year and I'm starting to worry what will be left to flower by July! I may have to go shopping for late flowering plants since everything I own is hogging the sunlight in its race to bloom. Happy bees
