Smile nicely at Pa Wonky and tell him that when KEF passed her test Pa KEF bought her a 2nd hand car..think he was worried I'd want to drive his.

  • Hey, Wonky!!  Congrats indeed!  Great news, well done!  imageimageimage

GWRS, yes, we love Madeira and go there most years in Jan/Feb.  We have favourite (cheap!) places to stay and lots of walks sorted which have no risk of vertigo (because we're old and scared - and sensible, perhaps... image)

KEF, would you fit in my suitcase??

Just had my hair cut too, in the hope that it might be warmish in Madeira.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Hosta, sometimes I have subversive thoughts. We had a customer sleeping in a tent with his son. He had been using a friends back garden, but friend wanted him to move on, so he was going to use some woodland. Winter was coming. the council would do nothing. I suggested he pitched his tent on the grass in front of the council offices.  The bit where they take wedding photos. Its just down the road from the local paper.  He pitched his tent at 9am. Half an hour later they said he had to move. He said if it takes three days to evict travellers from the car park, then they could do the same thing, and he would then move.  By 11 they had invited them in for coffee.  By 3pm they had found him an empty council house. Amazing eh?

I walked round the garden with my camera taking the " before" pics for this year and had a bit of a fright.

There's an emergency overflow pipe which can be lowered into the lake to quickly take the level down a couple of feet.

It's leaked for a while ( you can hear the water trickling into the pipe below water level) but the pipe has split on the dry side of the bank and has washed a huge amount of soil down the bank .

Bit of a Heath Robinson repair job. I cut the bottom of  a large compost bag and inserted it into the the lower part and tied the top around the pipe to form a collar to funnel the water into the lower section.

Got soaked, covered in mud, knee is killing me but it seems to be working. Will check again tomorrow to see if I can come up with something better.

    Devon.

    imageimageimage Well done Wonky - mine's a large G & T if we're celebrating. imageimageimage

Don't go making that knee worse before your op Hosta (stern faced, waggy finger smiley needed)

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Hi Hosta, I want to tidy the garden up (dead plants) sow my sweet pea seeds, go for walks if the weather is dry, visit parents and relax in between.

Are you feeling better now you are home Hosta? : )
