Sounds like your bug has developed into a full blown cold Lizzie - take care
Watched Sherlock last night Lily, and loved it - think it helps if you know there is going to be some time jumping - gets you prepared for it.
Frank - I did know it was the Canadian Garrison - there is a memorial avenue of maples planted along the A3 for about a mile, which goes the most glorious colours in autumn. We have been known to make a detour just to drive through them. Glad you have happy memories from round here - i will think of you next time I cycle past Frensham Pond Hotel !!!
My Dad's birthday today, so another trip to the New Forest for a celebratory lunch .......then that's my season for celebrating completed for another year ......but I think you will agree i have eeked it out rather well
Morning all- afties Pat- glad you've had a little rain to cool you down. Still very dark here and the rain's on it's way again. North east Scotland is suffering very badly. The bit of the A93 that's missing ( between Ballater and Crathie )can be bypassed on the minor road south of the Dee but the bridge further down is also closed so you can't get back onto the A93 to Braemar from Crathie.
Back to work tomorrow for me too flowers. I have a white border in the shady part of the garden. My little rear border on the fence is also like that - with cream and soft yellow. Lots of green and variegated foliage to tie it all together. Makes it calm and relaxing
Off to see what you've all been up to since I was on last night
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
DD don't throw all the toys away, I have nothing from my childhood (oddly my parents kept a fair amount of my brothers toys), no toys, no school books, and since my family weren't really keen on taking photos, very little evidence that I even existed between the years 3 - 21. Since my memory was reformatted after an accident I've struggled to fill in this huge gap in my life but even my fit healthy brother can't to tell me what toys I had.
Maybe I really was put in a bubble.
We're taking the decorations down today but I'm already on a mission to find a way to redecorate the house with some colour to cheer the rooms back up. We're in various states of redecorating / demolition and once the festive cheer goes the house feels so empty.
There is already muscari in a pot (I had forgotten about and found in the greenhouse now) flowering away in the kitchen and my little orange trees in the bedroom full of fruit but I may need to explore the garden centre for more ideas.
Clari - that's very sad. I haven't kept loads of things, but I have a box with stuff the girls did at play group and early school etc, and loads of photos - would never throw any of those away. It was lovely looking through them all earlier this year when the girls reached milestone birthdays. Small things can have so much meaning.
A bit of colour in the house can work wonders. I had quite a colourful lounge in my house round the corner - always felt cosy

Thanks for the Sicklebricks Lily & Chicky, I've never seen any. Chicky happy birthday to your Dad.
Get well soon Lizzie.
Clari I think you were in the same bubble as my youngest sister. Because nearly all of the childhood photos of her were on Cine film she was convinced she'd been adopted Strange how she looks so much like me
Oh, sorry Fairy it may have been your post that I read. Your borders sound lovely esp. the cream one . Mmmm variegated foliage sounds a very good idea , thanks
Have a lovely day chicky - bet it was lovely having oldest chicklet home for the celebrations too
Forgot about Sherlock but recorded it last night when it was repeated. I may have to concentrate....
I never had sticklebricks for the girls - they always made my skin crawl. Too many bits of hair and other unsavoury items were always stuck to them when I saw them at my sister's house....

I don't remember much of my childhood, and certainly have none of my toys, which is a little sad, Mum and Dad were not sentimental people.
Loving your photos on the other thread fairy. I have done a fair bit of rock climbing in the Arrochar Alps, although looking at me now I have no idea how.
Have a lovely day everyone.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
