Not as far as I know, Fairy, even if..... no maybe not.

And as for that home enema kit - you know where you can stick it.

  • Quick hello to all, busy busy busy -  as ever. image

Garden 'up to date', that's the best I can say but it does look tidier at 1st glance - and all the bulbs are in - at last. image

Spent the morning in school fingerprinting the children , went well considering, still have at least one more session to do though, probably two to be sure all Rudolphs have antlers and snowman have hats. imageimage Clarington, great links but a bit too advanced for our lot, maybe next year when I have time to train them first.

Managed a walk in the woods late yesterday afternoon and Charlie was ecstatic to come across fresh wild boar poo and footprints. I was a little unnerved but Charlie made so much noise I am sure they managed to run off and hide. It was enormous, I was very surprised and of course we had to go home and check it out in the 'poo book' it was definitely wild boar. Charlie now wants to go back and search for more and take casts of the footprints, luckily he in school all week so I am hoping he will have forgotten by next week-end. image

Car is in the garage for a service so have had to use the bike all day and still have to collect Charlie and hopefully the car later. Village is not far but after 3 trips back and forth my little legs are feeling tired. image Have a book club meeting on Friday so could try & finish off the book, but there are still a few jobs to get done in the garden - decisions decisions. image

Anyway, hope poorly people start to feel better and Monday for the workers is not too stressful, and to everyone else have a good afternoon. image

Lucky that Charlie doesn't want to take casts of boar poo! image Well done getting garden up to date. I'm still struggling with it, just lack motivation today, feel tired. Haven't planted tulips yet.

Sorry you are feeling low YvieStevie. Hope you aren't sickening for something.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Good afternoon all,

Not in the mood for any gardening today. Plenty of leaves to be raked up and dahlias to be cut down and covered with bracken but it is so dreary out there.

Sorry so many are feeling poorly. I've reached the grand old age of 27 so I seem to be immune to all the bugs going around (touch wood smiley) Also I was brought up on a farm and reports say that strengthens your immune system.

I read recently that Joan of Arc may have had hallucinations because she had bovine TB. We drank milk straight from the cows and neither my brother or I had to have the TB jab at school because we already  had some immunity. Don't think I have hallucinations though it was definitely Elvis who brought me a cup of coffee in bed this morning.

Seriously wet and soggy here today and windy with it so no gardening.   I have housework to do and dance admin and a major committee problem to sort out but am really not in the mood.

Still have weeds to sort, treasures to transplant to the nursery bed while I clear more bindweed and there are still bulbs to plant.

I know a scientist here who studies wild boar activities in the Ardennes - says they should never be approached, especially when they have young so make sure you do make a noise if you go back to make casts.

    Afternoon forkers.

Dahlias won over paperwork. Front bed all lifted ( 43 ) ,cut back and snuggled up in polytunnel for the winter. Just got those in the "allotment" to lift ( about 150 ). They can wait until Hubby is home.

  • Don't you worry Obelixx, Charlie will definitely be heard coming from quite a distance and I'll be doing nothing to discourage him. image The people we walked with have lived in that forest for 26 years and said they have never seen one, lots of signs but never an actual sighting - much to my relief. image

Lizzie, don't be mistaking 'up to date' as a perfect garden, just means I have got bulbs in, cut down dead perennials and picked up all the leaves - still plenty to do out there. image Trying to make the most of the good weather before it disappears for winter.

Car back, all ok, have to go back for new brake pads but nothing we weren't expecting - phew. image

Hip hop class tonight - not me Charlie, but obviously I'm the taxi driver. Have a nice evening all. image

How exciting DD. image  I know you're saying those ones are 'properly' wild, but do you get boar meat there? It's supposed to be very tasty.

    Steve - don't think I'll be purchasing it somehow....image

and how on earth did they make that leap image image

Flippin' cold here. It reached the dizzy heights of 6 at lunchtime. Considering the sleety rain this afternoon, I doubt it got any higher than that. Winter draw(er)s on image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Mmmm image  We've just had pot roast pheasant in mustard and cream sauce with celariac and apple, green lentils dressed with a balsamic and orange dressing and steamed curly kale - very full tummy - OH washing up and me flollopped on the sofa with a G&T image
