Morning late arrivals Hope convalesences are going well and returned holiday makers are wrapping up and keeping warm
I've done my Bird Count - more than I expected - most of the usual suspects, plus several visits from a jay - shame I could only count him once.
Leg of lamb in the oven, potatoes parboiled, carrots cooking, cauliflower cheese made, cabbage prepped. As MIL wants to go to Homebase, pudding may well be icecream from the freezer with some raspberries and redcurrants.
Now it's time to sit down with a coffee and see what you lot are up to ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
First trip of the year to GC. Made a list of the 9cm. perennials, so I can think where they might fit into planting plans [ well organised or what? ] NOTHING ACTUALLY BOUGHT.
We have a lamb shoulder today, Dove.
Just had a lovely email from Canadian couple we met on holiday, inviting us over there.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Dove - I feel full up just reading that menu! Glad you got a better bird count today. Weather is such an influence. Even though I do it, I can't quite get my head round it. It just isn't representative of what you see regularly in the garden, so I'm not sure what the data reveals, or how it can be a true picture of what's happening. You could have a wren, for instance, which is often around, but because you didn't see it in that hour, on that day, it could look like there are none in your area. I'm sure someone more intelligent can explain.
That was very restrained of you at the GC doc. You can do some nice planning in the comfort of your home now, out of the rubbish weather.
Glad you're home safe and sound Hosta. Hopefully your next jaunt will be more successful. Couldn't be any worse really!
Sad about Terry Wogan - another person who was 'always there' and now isn't. The times they are a changing. Shouldn't have said that - he'll be next
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Afternoon everyone, Well what a week. I've read back but cant remember everything. Doves unmentionables make me laugh though. Welcome back Hosta. Hope everyone has survived the awful weather. Hope everyone with poorly boobs, tummies knees etc is feeling better today.
Have been mainly looking after grandchildren this past week and also helping secondborn sort out her house problems. It's getting a bit worrying now as the baby is due towards the end of April, not long in house buying terms, especially as the house they are buying needs quite a bit of work, walls knocking down, kitchen and bathroom replaced etc.
Haven't had time for gardening though which is really annoying me, so much to do.
Oh Clarri just remembered, you boss really is the limit. Look there are lots of other charities out there that would welcome your drive and experience. I worked in the third sector for years and yes you are taken advantage off occasionally but nothing like your situation. Get out there girl and find a new job, the way they behave is disgraceful.
Hello Fairy - I'm with you on the bird count thingy. It's almost as though they know when the clock starts - so they go and hide - and they know when it stops too - so they can come out to play again
What's the weather like for you today? I think this winter has put us off the idea of buying somewhere in The Lakes - summer midges put us off Scotland. Wimps
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
T'bird - I certainly didn't count you in the survey yesterday
We had snow lying yesterday so it made a difference to what birds came in - if I'd done it today - much milder and damp - it would have been different again as they were notably absent first thing this morning. I just find it slightly pointless somehow - perhaps it would be better if a set of people volunteered and could do a little survey once a month or something. Or is that already an option with the RSPB or another organisation? Flowers mentioned something else on the survey thread - maybe I'll take a look into that.
A house on a hill is what you want - with no 'midge protecting' shrubbery or nearby rivers or lochs ...

Not very exciting here, Dove, done some paperwork and emails. Raining.

Best wishes Flowers, hope you feel better soon. Thanks to all for welcome and lovely comments.
Chicky, I'm on my third adult colouring book. Have you tried kids marker pens, or even better - glitter pens. They're great!

Night all.
Glad you're feeling better Pat. Hope that continues
