Hi folks! Long time no see.. OH has been writing music on this machine, so it's been days since I've had the opportunity to look in, but the urgent need to complete my tax return has enabled me to take a sneeky peek!
It's been a busy week. We moved Mum on Wednesday - it was organised with military precision, with my sister and me spending most of Tuesday not talking to Mum but shut in her bedroom, packing up books (hiding boxes in the wardrobe so she wouldn't get suspicious) and identifying which items would be travelling to the north-east for her new abode. On Wednesday morning the Home rang when Mum was down for breakfast, enabling me, my sister and OH to dismantle bookshelves, pack ornaments and clothes, and load the hired van. OH drove me and the contents up to the new Home in time to unpack everything, screw bookshelves to a new wall, place significant photos in appropriate places, and make it look as much as possible like home, before sister and bro-in-law arrived with Mum. "Lovely room!" she said, when led into the lounge - and apart from being extremely confused at night, she's doing all right, and has apparently no idea that she's got a new abode. Thank you Runny for thinking of her (and me!). And yes, I'm sleeping better now the deed is done... we'd never have moved her if it hadn't been forced on us, but the place she's now in is really lovely, so I have no long-term fears about it. Just the disappointment that she's no longer on the doorstep.
I'm off to Scotland on Tuesday for a fortnight, changing the blankets, mattress covers etc in the holiday cottage and doing some more (indoor) painting. (The forecast looks terrible so I doubt much wall-building will be done this time!) No internet access there (and no computer either... ) so I'll be out of touch again for a bit. Got my train tickets to visit Mum the day after I get back though!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Mr C is improving a little bit every day, but is still pretty tired. They said it could be 2 weeks before he recovers from the bits they did ...and we are now a week and a half. However, he is not allowed to do much even when he has recovered, until we get part 2 done at beginning of December. Netflix is getting quite a bashing. Having said that he did some pottering outside today - cleared the GH of toms and cukes, and cut back the asparagus. He took it all slowly, and felt better for being outside ....in the mizzly drizzle
Hi Liri - sounds like the move went well thanks to your meticulous planning. I hope she settles in very quickly. It must be difficult, but the peace of mind you get knowing that she is somewhere lovely where she will be well looked after is worth a lot. A trip to Scotland sounds just the right change of scene for you. Big ((hugs))
Yes I did Snow. They were very good ones too (sorry fairy).
Liri you and your family have worked your socks off to make sure your Mum has had a stressless move. So pleased for you that she seems happy there and I hope you can recharge your batteries up in Scotland (with less midges at the moment). ((Hugs)).
Help - is anyone watching Countryfile? The piece of music they played right at the beginning - with the views of the Cambridgeshire Fens - I know it so well and I just can't remember what it is - I'm sure it's English, early 20C but ........
