Morning all, It's a bit dull here today but it does look like it will burn off later.  I have been neglecting the garden lately due to other pressures but hopefully I will be able to get back out their today.

I have to put up the insulation in the greenhouse as I think the weather is due to change soon and I will be potting up seedlings soon to overwinter in there.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hi Jo,  I'm fine, just a bit weary.  The last few weeks have been a bit stressful with mum and hubby being ill and looking after grandchildren.  Hopefully the worst is over now and we can get back to normal.

Sorry you are feeling down P'doc, unfortunately neighbours can be a real pain.

  • Morning MrsG, good to see you. Hope you're well.

Did your Paniwhatsit bloom weel this year?  Mines ok but hope it grows a bit more next year!

Pdoc, hope all works out ok re NDN, we're quite lucky really apart from the noisy little princess a few doors down.image

I use bags for kitchen bin liners too. Will have to buy liners from now on.

Morning MrsG and everyone else image

Got a problem to solve in the next few weeks since Mum's Home dropped a bombshell yesterday.  Her dementia has progressed to the extent that they don't feel they can cope with her any more.  Things are made worse when she gets a urinary tract infection, which is frequently, and her behaviour changes - she's been known to hit other residents, and 2 evenings ago she pulled a full-length mirror off the wall (it was screwed on, so goodness knows how she managed - she's 94 and under 5ft tall).  Luckily nobody was hurt, but understandably this causes big problems for the Home, which doesn't specialise in dementia care and so doesn't have everything geared up to her sorts of needs.  It's so hard to comprehend such behaviour in my Mum, who has always been such a gentle, peaceful soul...  image

Anyway, we are now looking for a specialist care home for her.  There is one in my town, but when we visited it a few years ago (before Mum came here) we weren't impressed.  The most recent CQC report isn't very good either, except they rated it highly for quality of care for the residents (which is something, at least, I suppose). Other homes in neighbouring towns would have to be accessible by public transport or I couldn't often visit her.

Sorry to come on here with a tale of woe.  Hopefully I'll get into the garden later and do some furious digging...  image

Hope you all have a happy and productive day.  image

7 days to go. Apparently the weather is about to turn bad.image

If it stays Ok the flowers will come out of the garden. Contingency plan A a local fruit and veg shop has been selling lovely teddy bear sunflowers at £2 for 3stems. I was debating getting £20 worth next week , but yesterday he said those in the shop were the last, the local farmer is going to plough the rest in this weekend. The ones already cut wont last until next week.

Contingency plan B. Raid mums garden for all her spray crysanths.

    Contingency plan C  local supermarket.

A house full next week so I may not be around much. Busy busy busy.

Liri I'm so sorry to hear that your Mum has to be moved.  It must be a nightmare for you having to find an appropriate place.  I well remember pouring over CQC reports when OH's Mum needed to go into a care home,  At least the one near to you had a good quality of care rating.  It depends what they are falling down onimage.  Best of luck with reaching the right decision for all of you.  I'll be thinking of you, ((hugs)).

Yvie I hope that things will soon be back to normal for you and your family.  How is OH coping with sleeping upright?

Fidget, fingers are crossed for good weather for you and your flowersimage.

LilyP I think the first injury to my foot has led to this problem, plantar fasciitis, which is literally a pain in the footimage.  I'm wearing gel insoles, doing physio exercises, keeping my foot up when I can and using ice.  Plenty of ice in my vodka and Cokeimage.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and hugs,  Lesley. image  It was just a bit of a shock - we'd thought she'd be able to stay where she was for the rest of her life.  It's a lovely Home too, and is rated "excellent" by the CQC, so having to leave it is a blow.  We'll get there though...

I hardly know where to start.

Pdoc, I hope you can find a way to lift your spirits - I know how miserabke I got the last 8 weeks when I felt so sick. I was so pleased that you all had funny, interesting things to write about.

I'm shocked that your mother has changed and you've got to find another place for her Liri. That's terrible.

Dove, that nail problem must be a nuisance.

I'll have to look back to remember everyone's posts but my best wishes to all.image
