Evening all! Just a quick flit by - life has become very busy at the moment.
A friend with a partially-sighted, garden-loving son speaks very highly of Alan Titchmarsh, who singled out her son in a very full Q&A session and spent one-to-one time with him. He was genuinely helpful, and spoke to the lad as an equal. Perhaps dealing with plants makes people lovely... here's hoping...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Fairy no need to knit, possum products available and they last for decades!

Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
Hello everyone. Another cold, wet, overcast day here and I'm very glad to be inside, although it's beginning to bore me. I keep swapping between solitaire on my iPad and a book of puzzles from the newsagent. TV gets unbearable after a while.
I dug out the possum socks from the cupboard and have them on, so that should help my cold tootsies. My memory of these socks was that they had come from New Zealand, but I could be wrong. Susan has been gone almost 6 years now, so I've had them for several years. There was a bit of a hoo-har some years ago with NZ complaining bitterly about Australian possums taking over NZ bushland and there was a concerted effort to cull them. That might have been the start of the harvesting of their fur. Not sure. The socks are very soft (not hard wearing I don't think), so I only use them as bed socks or for lounging.
sorry I can't remember all the posts from yesterday and if I try to go back half way through this post, I'll lose the lot, so my best wishes to all. I forgot to ask Bushman if he managed to see the Queen or did he get sick before he had a chance. I think it all happened at about that time. I feel sorry to hear about the OH with the retina problem. And of course those of us who are dog lovers all have become involved with that problem as well. I hope that a new loving family can take him.
Isn't it amazing how we miss Dove. She is such a big part of this thread and others that I'm sure we'll all be pleased to see her back on line when she gets back from holidays.
Hello Pat, sounds like your sox are keeping you toasty. I was thinking the same about Dove. Did even go as far as thinking that Shadow wouldn't have mis-behaved and got himself in so much trouble if she was around.
Nice morning here but a definite autumn chill in the air. Pretty though.
One of my students brought me some cyclaman into class yesterday, freshly dug from her garden where they are prolific, such a kind gesture and gorgeous plants. Will plant them today to keep my mind off everything else. The students have guessed I like gardening because so many of my 'topics' revolve around plants, flowers and weather. Am on a mission today to find the French equivalent of common names of trees we talked about yesterday after discussing an article in The Telegraph, common spindle, dogwood and ironwood. Any ideas anyone?
Hope you all have a good day.

Susan - he's been around so long I thought he must be about 120 by now!
I'll record that as I might not be around. Thanks for letting us know
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
