Just found out OH's sister has organised a surprise party for her Hubby's 60th.
Clearly we're not invited despite OH speaking to his sister and nephew and his fianceé over the weekend, none of them mentioned it.
Would it be too mean to contact brother in law and tell him we didn't want to come to his surprise party?
Hmm, you could ring far too early the next morning and say you're sorry you forgot to send a card, would Alka Seltzer do???
Verdun, I expect you're out there now, scrubbing those beaches for us so that we have a lovely holiday in September when all the other emmets have gone home
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hosta I wouldn't totally burn all bridges I send flowers (early) with an OTT message about how you look forward to seeing B/d boy soon If you get an invite say soz I'm cutting my toe nails that day
Hosta, you could always send a message, hoping they have a lovely evening and that it's such a shame that they arranged it for the same evening that you're hosting an important social gathering .......... they'll be sooooo curious and livid that you didin't invite them.

Same thing happened to me years ago when I found out that my brother's daughter was having a children's birthday party but nothing was said to my son of the same age and the thing was, we were really close! or so I thought.
I purposefully delivered her birthday present the day of party to give them a last chance and then refused to speak to him again...more than a decade later I'm still not talking.
Probably worse still was that family functions were organised without me thereafter and I now only see my parents regularly and older brother sometimes but more importantly, I have three amazing sons and a OH who is the love of my life so I really haven't missed much
Went to B&Q today to look at wallpaper and bought 7 white salvia for 3 quid a pop and 3 trailing rosemary for 2 quid each
I just about managed to squish them all in my backpack and bags with one salvia poking out the back zip but lost it on the way home because I didn't feel it fall out
I'm glad I don't have that issue although my own children have experienced a bit of that from their dad's family. I also had a similar problem to W'song's, with 'friends' who gradually pushed me and my children out of their lives when I became single. Very unpleasant, and it's made me very wary about who I allow into my life.
The sun has decided to come out here.Having dinner now, but planted a few little things that should have gone out ages ago. Will probably never flower now....
How is the buddleia doing GGirl? If you'd like another one I've got a couple more. Just PM me
