Evening all. I haven't caught up yet. We are back from our hols in Suffolk and Eastbourne. The garden is parched and several plants in my pots and troughs have died. Most of the pots and half the veggie garden are dry as a bone. Hard to water as he water runs straight through the dry compost. Met by smiling house sitter who said he'd watered everything, killed nothing and all was great. He hadn't even put the chlorine in the pool as asked and water is starting to go green. Don't think he has a clue, bet he didn't even read my instructions. He didn't pick the runner beans, courgettes and cucumbers either, or the sweet peas. He said he would.

    Sorry for the rant.

Wish we lived in Suffolk, it was so beautiful!

If Beth Chatto had a dry garden here and didn't water it at all it would be dead! I love my garden, I probably made it so I would have a little piece of England in France.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Terrible thing to happen, busylizzie.

My housesitter did the opposite and left everything standing in 2inches of water for 3weeks., didnt put the bins out  at all, and used every pot in the cupboard, despite the dishwasher being next to the sink. It took three loadings to clear them all.

I wont be using him again!!'

I think I'll set up a garden-sitting agency - I'll employ only Forkers and hire them out only to Forkers - payment will be in cakes, jam and home-made wine image

I'll need access to everyone's diaries so that I can co-ordinate your holiday dates image

From now onwards no Forkers can have holidays without me having signed your A

Are your new specs faulty Dove?  image

BL - what a shame. Heartbreaking. If I could have sent you our rainy weather for the last few weeks you wouldn't have had a problem. image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
