Yvie, I grow 3 clumps of Acanthus, best planted out of midday sun but not full shade. They have fleshy roots and difficult to get rid of once established. Leaves can bully other plants, I just snip offenders off. They sulk a bit in full flower, haven't worked out how to combat this yet, perhaps clever companion planting
My soil is rubbish but they have flowered every year barring one and I feed it to get flowers
Two of my courgette plants have ladybirds on them 'black seed' like stuff which I suppose is their eggs! Can I spray them with anything or do I just dig up the plants?
Why would you want to do anything? Baby ladybirds is Good News!!!

We had a good afternoon and evening. Went to Brighton, wandered about, had a drink. Saw the pier and the Lanes. Had a delicious Italian seafood linguini and wine then went to the theatre and saw an Agatha Christi play. We took the bus from Eastbourne there and back, double decker, I could see into people's gardens.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Possibly not, but scattered over a big bowl of Pasta Puttanesca, and washed down with a very good rosé, it'll suit us just fine
