I sympathise with those that have noisy children next door, we are pretty much surrounded by hostals, for ex convicts and the homeless either that or shared occupancy dwellings due to the road being full of large old town houses that are ideal for this purpose. All that being said, we have very little trouble and what trouble we do have is very entertaining!

Only child in the area in a five year old girl and her mum next door living in a single room, feel more sorry for them! They only have a paved yard and I caught her peeping through to my garden through a gap in the wall and telling her mother about it, think she's Spanish. So I popped my head over and asked her if she would like to grow some sun flowers. She excitedly said she would so gave her seedsseeds, pots, and compost. A couple of weeks later I gave her some bigger pots and more compost. Last night she asked if she could show me her sunflowers, she had grown them as tall as herself! And was so pleased with her achievement!

Sorry for the long windedness.... Just thought it was nice image got to get her even bigger pots and some bamboo steaks now!

Our neighbour about 2 years ago had six children who were home educated.  Play times could be a bit noisy and especially Friday when they had friends roundimage.  They were noisy but for limited times and were always polite when addressing us old folkimage

The wind is getting up a bit - better carry on weeding.

That's lovely WW, but it really does depend on parenting style.

LesleyK, I don't think I could imagine long sleeves in summer image and a bikini is that thing that hubby doesn't care how much they cost or how many you buy but you have to promise to wear them a lot image

It's 27 here, not a cloud in the sky and I feel like I'm on holiday, where's the pool?

That is a lovely story Wonky image She must be very proud of her sunflowers! Did you make it a competition?

Had a phone call from an agency this morning who said they would call back.... I'm still waiting..... image These people don't know what they do to us image

I agree Winter, I shake my head in disbelief at the majority of parents I see! I found that its the British that have let the traditional standards slip in our area, excellent manners from all but UK born, that is only in my area I comment on tho, couldn't say for anywhere else.

Hello folks - I'm back from visiting Ma - most of the residents had gone down to the beach with staff but Ma had changed her mind at the last minute and stayed behind in the cool - handy as I didn't have to go and find them all. She was in a lovely mood, very confused - Pa sleeps a lot apparently, and doesn't join in with things any more , and her mother doesn't come around very much nowadays,  (thank goodness) but she kept saying it's a lovely place to live, just like a happy family, no one falls out with anyone, everyone helps each other, and isn't it lovely to live a life free from any worries ,  Sounds like the pills are working image  She smiled more today than I've ever seen, even when I was a child - she was always too self-conscious to smile until she got Alzheimer's image

I'd bought Ma a little bag of Thornton's chocs, but by the time I got there they were liquid, so I gave her a bag of marshmallows I'd bought for the barbeque this evening - she loves those. Fortunately I'd bought two bags. image

When I got back I picked up my new Kenwood Multi-Pro from Waitrose and bought some pork chops, chicken and lamb bits for barbequeing for the rest of the week, along with a bottle of Pimms Blackberry & Elderflower and some lemonade - some of the pork chops are marinading and the Pimms and lemonade are in the fridge.

Now I'm going to put my feet up in front of some tennis for a few minutes ...

Evening all, back from Nanna Duty, really El Scorchio here.  Car thermometer said 33 when taking and picking up grandaughter from school and when I got home the greenhouse thermometer said 44 - that's with shade netting and all doors and window open.  Good job all my plants are in the ground or outside now.

Went for a long walk in the woods this morning with littlest grandaughter Mabel.  It was lovely and cool, she spent most of the time telling me which tree the gruffalo lived in and where the sqiggle and howl lived.

They both went off to the local splash pad with Daddy as I left.

Haven't checked the garden yet but I'm betting it will need watering tonight.  No more Nanna Duty for the rest of the week although they are staying with me overnight on Saturday as it's Firstborn's birthday and her OH is taking her out for a meal.

Off to check out DD's photos.
