Panda, glad you're able to revert to Plan A - hope it all goes well and everyone has a fantastic time
I've been soooooooooooooooooo busy Went to the GC to pay for my half-price shedlet (well, it's quite a small shed) - spent most of what I'd saved on plants for the tubs, osteospermums, petunias, verbenas and something else I can't remember, all in shades of pink, bluey-purple, white and mixtures of the same, and some silver leaved cineraria I haven't planted them up yet, but I have pricked out the last tomatoes, sown some peas and PSB, and spot treated the weeds in the front lawn that look as if they've survived the lawn treatment of a couple of weeks ago. I've also spent an inordinate amount of time hand-feeding our friendly pair of robins
We've also waved goodbye to a pine double bed frame that's been lurking in our garage looking for a new home for ages - one of OH's colleagues has just moved home and needed a temporary bed rather than share a futon with a toddler - her lovely Italian uncle arrived and fitted the whole thing into his little Alpha Romeo hatchback - we have a fraction more space in the garage
Then, in one of those strange serendipity moments, we had an 'Italian supper' , a pizza Quatro Stagioni with a tomato, artichoke and mozzarella salad, and of course I had my customary Campari and soda
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Rhubarb crumble on the go in the oven: found a lovely little tip of adding a few tablespoons of port when simmering the rhubarb and sugar. Seems to bring out the taste somewhat. I've no idea what kind of rhubarb we have growing in the garden: very tastey though!
Haven't eaten all day guys! Your killin' me! moussaka in oven took so long to make and just waiting til its golden now, salivating a pool on my laptop!
Glad all things worked out in the end Panda! Hope you have a wonderful time! Brave lady!
Sounds like you've been getting attached to sticky things Dove! You must be wearing your Velcro jumper again!
Here's hoping for more lovely weather! Enjoy your evening folks!
Evening all, Had a really busy couple of days in the garden. Today I've finished the last of the pots and weeded all the borders. Popped to Ashwoods and treated myself to tea, cake and an Arenaria Montana which should help divide the orange/yellow bed from the pink bed.
Have been watching lots of Chelsea this afternoon.
Hello all, not had chance to catch up but have looked in a few times just not posted. I hope everyone is ok. We have as ne lady at work now so hopefully things will settle down (again) and I might get in the garden and on here a bit more.
I had a woodpecker on my nut feedet tonight, the first time I have ever had one in my garden so am absolutely made up, my 3 boys didn't share my excitement so I have come on here to show off.....sorry
Really intrigued by the Restios at Chelsea in this evening's programme. I know I can't grow them here, but at least I can admire...
Glad you got your clematis, Wonky. Mrs Bateman's very pretty.
Great news re rail strike for Runny & Panda!
Well, I enjoyed plodging about in wet mud again this morning - at least, until I discovered my right welly had sprung a leak. Plenty more to do on the Park pond but we plan to wait for a dry spell. (And I plan to buy a new pair of wellies...) Then we did some excavation on the route of a path, almost obliterated by landslides and leaf mould, known to lead to a well. We found the well! Under huge stone slabs we could hear running water. Lots more to do here too, but a satisfying start.
Spent a happy afternoon in the garden, cutting grass, edging, weeding, pottering about.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Congrats on your woodpecker OL - lovely birds - look so exotic somehow
On a train home from Chelsea .... Wonderful day Chris Beardshaw garden definitely my favourite (gorgeous colours and plants) with the Australian one, the writers retreat and Matthew Wilsons close behind. Meh to a few of the others. Biggest Wow moment of the day was for the sculpture of the airman in the resistance garden - totally surreal.
Plant marquee was spectacular - clematis, irises, peaonies and roses provided additions to my wishlist.
