Gosh, where have you a all gone? I popped off to help at Rainbows They had a tour of Tescos who are doing something for young uns about where food comes from - had a whole bit with where different veg comes from. Then had dinner with my friend
Congratulations Edd! Brilliant!!! Do you have squashed black finger and thumb nails? Shame we don't have stone here, or you could come and build me a wall
Panda Do Tesco's know where food comes from? I bought some fresh peas in pods from Tesco and the chap on the checkout asked what they were? I said 'Peas' - 'No they're not.' he said 'peas are round'

Morning all Congrats to the dry stone walling champion
Didn't actually freeze here, but GH thermometer is saying 0.5* , so glad I bothered with the fleece. Had to squeeze some of my plantlings under the propagator lids, they've got so big. But skies are blue, and it looks like a good day in store. Off to London today, so a train journey to look forward to
Good morning Chicky Have a good journey. I'm meeting foodie friends for lunch in Cromer Glad my swimmy head has gone.
Garden thermometer says 6.6C here last night. Runner beans look perfectly happy (they're planted out) and the tomatoes in the mini-greenhouse up against the house wall were fine under some bubblewrap. I think we're due a colder night tonight - I might bring the tomatoes inside - I'll check the forecast.

Just checked the Met Office forecast - rural East Anglia may get a touch of frost tonight, but no lower than 6C here - we're close enough to the city to get the benefit of better night temperatures as long as there's not a north-east wind.

Morning Dove - enjoy Cromer .....beautiful day for it.
We always seem colder than the surrounding area ....we have our own microclimate (Not sure if thats something to be proud of). I always subtract a few degrees off the forecast to be safe. Very often we find our magnolia and pieris have been turned to brown mush overnight, when those at the top of the hill remain looking glorious
It's like that here at the front of the house - the cold air rolls down the hill and settles here - but at the back the gardens are terraced with tall fences which seems to stop the cold air and the back garden is always a few degrees warmer (or less cold) than the front. And of course we have the big ash trees on the eastern boundary and they must shelter us just a little bit too.

Morning Chicky, Dove, bekkie, Onion and others to come
WELL DONE Ed!!!!! Never mind about the seed trays, I was like that in February /March with all the prep stuff I needed for the garden, now it's all been used
Lovely sunny day here, I have homework to do this morning and a confession to make. Changed my mind about planting yesterday, so my Clematis jackmanii (third one) got moved to sunny side, with Paul's Scarlet climbing rose whilst the yellow rose got Clematis Chantilly. ..ooh, yellow and pink, I'm living dangerously
