When I first joined the forum I had an idea I'd read this thread from the beginning, to get to know you better - but the number of pages defeated me! Not a hope now!
Well, what a fab day! Morning in the park, up to my ankles in mud (in wellies, I hasten to add), clearing out an old farm dam in company of 4 friends. We made a pond with an overflow, stone edging to the neighbouring path, and a large boggy area for flag iris, purple loosestrife, water mint etc. Licence to muck about in mud when you're 27 is wonderful!
This afternoon we visited Mum and found her in the garden at the Home, enjoying the sun, and in fine spirits; returning home I then spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden again. Happy me!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Dog has been very happy with the house sitter, but plants less so, well, some of them. Some of my big pots very dry and some seedlings in the GH really unhappy. Gave them all a good soak and I'll see how they are tomorrow, but water just runs straight through dry compost. But HS did make our evening meal which was nice of her.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Woke up this morning to find that something had dug a 9" in the flower bed rooting up my Eryngiums in the process. Probably a fox or a dog sniffing out the blood fish and bone, bit strange that nothing else was dug up.
Good morning all We've had a lovely golden sunrise this morning - I've been out and fed the birds, the robin was nearly brave enough to take some mealworms from my hand
I think we're going to have to have a change of planting at the back of the wildlife pond - a pair of blackbirds have trashed the turf there to get mud for their nest! I think some overhanging ferns may be the answer - just got to manage to dig some planting holes without falling in the pond - maybe I'd better leave it until OH is here
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Imagine choosing to read from the beginning
Which is what I did on a previous thread before joining in

Back home in France.

a sleepy good morning to you all..
Morning all.
What's happened to the sun?
The sky is cloudy and grey, is it the end of the world?
RUN FOR THE HILLS.
Still sunny here in Yorkshire hosta, just waiting for the forecast clouds when I get home from work!
Good morning
What a change in the forecast, with rain and frost being predicted for the next few nights
. Still, the garden needs a good soaking.
Dove you're quite right to wait for OH to do the digging - you don't want to get your poorly finger infected
Hosta, just be grateful that only one was dug up. FBB is quite a magnet for dogs and foxes.
Hope your plants recover Lizzie.
2000 pages - wow
