Hello Ben, welcome back. I remember you always gave practical advice, especially concerning technical matters.

Well I tried!!! Garden still needs loads doing, but my youngest is now nearly 4, so we are getting to the stage where she can come out and 'help' without me needing the pair of eyes on the seat of my pants!

What a beautiful morning it has beenimage.  I've managed to move a large skimmia which wasn't happy in its position and now it is slightly more shaded it has two choices.  Put my new obelisk in it's place with climbing rose Handel planted.

Wintersong I remember you were wondering how to secure your obelisk a while ago and wonder what you did in the end.

No Lizzie I've not seen art jack for a while either.  Enjoy your nursery visit.

    Nice to 'meet' you BrummieBenimage

Still missing fairygirl. I need her to put a spell on the neighbours.

Nice day, so I stripped the bed, got a line of sheets out, and one of the neighbours  lit a bonfire.

Some shouting and gesticulating later, I find they don't speak English. They had to get a 5 year old to translate.   I think they got the message that I was not pleased at having to wash a pair of sheets again to get rid of the smoke smell.image

    Afternoon all.

Lovely day again, tee shirt weather.

Good day, delivery from Crocus in the morning and a visit from KEF in the afternoon. Wandered round the garden, had a nice chat, she gained some Meconopsis and I gained a bottle of wine. It was lovely to meet her, gardeners are such nice people.

    Hello

Busy day - too good to miss and OH did some heavy duty work for me, emptying bags of spent compost and raking it in, moving big pots as I am trying to have a new look on patio (well not that different), emptying some other pots - has his uses sometimes!!

Middle veg bed is prepared and a trellis affair up for the mange tout - made it by weaving bamboo

Will do another one for sweet peas if it stays upimage

Also planted some plants bought them a while back from local GC - £10 for3- good sized pot and was surprised how good the roots were.

Quite feel like having a trip out somewhere wile the weather is good- need towork on OH image

Oh heck fidget, did you have to do all your washing again. We can't have bonfires here till after 7.30.

Weeded all of front beds this afternoon. Looks so good now.

Whilst I was doing it our new next door neighbour (who dug up every flower/shrub etc front and back....then turfed from edge to edge) asked me if I'd ever thought of chopping my oak tree down (3/4 down my back garden.......and its very long).......errr no image

What a fabulous day.  Been out in the garden all day apart from a quick trip to a local garden centre to buy some aquatic plants for the mini pond.

Also got some trellis and a strange pot type thing.  I think it was the base for some sort of garden fountain but it was just what I wanted.  I have a clematis to plant in an area where the soil is a bit rubbish so now I can fill this pot with John Innes and it will be be able to drain really well (it has no bottom) Hubby thinks it looks a bit like an upside toilet,, but when I've planted it up it will be beautiful.  Really thick stone, I offered them £20 quid for it and they accepted.  Bargain.   Mind you it weighs a tonne don't honestly know how we managed to get it in the garden.

Have painted the trellis and planted one of the clematis.  Will need to fetch some more compost tomorrow to fill the upside down toilet before I can plant second clematis.

I have baby sunflowers Vanilla Ice and Black Magic. Yay.  Only sown on 30th in little pots in the greenbouse and they have germinated. Never grown them before so hope they do well.

Off for a quick look round to see what everyone else has been up to.
