Hi Folks, Been busy in the garden since I got back from Firstborn's. Popped to GC and bought a lovely terracota pot of Tete a Tete half price after Easter also a couple of lovely little pale pink primulas.
Moved a phlox and moved the gardenia again. Think it was a bit too sunny where I put it a couple of days ago. Dug out a Hypericum that I was bored of and got rid of some Alstromeria that were a horrible bright red colour. Lawns tomorrow I think.
Visited the local Flea Market and came home with a replacement border spade - old ones are the best and a big garden pot - not sure what to put in it now but I'm sure I'll find something next GC visit. I was going to buy some garden ornaments but this lovely piece of glass attracted me and took nearly all my budget - still it's an heirloom
Have pottered, removed wrapping from olive pots, cut down penstemons and then took some cuttings from the shoots that I cut off - no idea if that is right or not, trimmed back fuchsias. Nothing difficult but stuff that needs to eb done.
Wintersong did I see you liked white and spikey but needed to fill a gap - I discovered the other day a white Echinops, ordered now from Suttons - always been a little wary of the quality so not ordered from them for years so will see!
What a gorgeous day. Spent most of it in the garden and my back really knows all about it now. I have been moving a load of buried rocks from under a conifer and digging out the weeds and brambles. When I started complaining about my back my wonderful younger son told me that I should remember I'm an OAP now. When I said he could have helped he just replied 'you didn't ask'.
Making a chilli for tea and will have a catch up later.
Hello folks back from sunny Southwold! The place was packed so following our meeting with vicar and visit to Ma we didn't even try to get a table for lunch but headed inland a bit and had a very fine lunch here http://www.shadingfieldfox.co.uk/ . The countryside was beautiful, hedgerows full of wild cherry blossom and primroses, and the first oilseed rape flowers just beginning to open.
I see that most of you have been out in your gardens Daughter tells me we have a fortnight of sunshine and high temperatures coming soon - yippee!!! She's been to Homebase - not only has she the birthday present of new spade, fork, hand tools and secateurs that we gave her, but her lovely hubby has bought her a new lawn mower and she's spent some more birthday money on a Braeburn appletree, a bush rose and a rhododendron. Their neighbours have several apple trees so she's hopeful that one of them will be in the right pollination group, but to be on the safe side she'd like a Golden Hornet crab apple as we had one in the garden when she was a little girl - I'll have to keep my eyes open for one next autumn
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
What a glorious day hope your back recovers Lesley, are you and Chicky starting a pulled back club?
Just a little gentle pottering and potting on for me, felt something pop in my ribs yesterday while i was fighting with a tree, so thought id better take it easy today!
Dove, it sounds like your daughter is a chip of the old block!
RB ive seen a peacock butterfly too, my favorite
Meant to say something else, but had to let george out and now ive forgotten! Never mind will make a cuppa and see if it comes to me! How old am i again! ;p
Glorious day here. Penstemmon chopped (snap Matty) and another third of the last border mulched .....prob only one more session will finish it off.
still waiting patiently for my agastache to appear - can't believe I have lost all of them, so am convincing myself they are just late to appear. Fingers crossed
