My sister can be a pain at times. She's a lot older than me and sometimes threats me like I'm five. We did fall out for a few months a few years ago but her husband suddenly died and she needs me to help her. She hurt me a great deal and she has never apologised and it never gets mentioned. I'm far too soft....i've forgiven her but not forgotten.
Thanks for replies guys and girls. You did make me laugh.
Truth is , I'd not hike from Devon to Surrey to attend, don't like either of them . OH has never liked his BiL but she is his only sister and they have virtually no other family. I'm annoyed because he feels betrayed.
To make matters worse, They're on a cruise so OH is staying at their house whilst working locally AND he's re-decorating their flippin' bathroom for them.
They parade around with £15K Rolex watches but haven't done a thing to their house since they moved in mid 80s. Avocado kitchen anyone?
If you find out you've not been invited to a surprise party, is it ok to phone the birthday boy and tell him you hope he has a lovely time at this surprise party, oops, not a surprise any more?
I always thought we were a close family but since I've been in France no one ever writes to me and it's always me who phones and sends birthday cards. I go to see them, they never come here. 3 brothers and a sister. Brother I was closest to died a long time ago, cancer. SIL, sister of husband No 1 (died '98), writes and rings more often.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hosta....my method for getting rid of unwanted lodger may work....did for my lodger!....
Exlax birthday cake followed by sprayed deep heat on toilet roll.....get OH to sort that for them! My lodger was particularly unpleasant and I have no regrets....or lodgers!
I tell people how I feel and leave it with them. But I did learn a lesson early in life that I taught my boys
The fastest route to disappointment is to put your expectations in someone else, so whenever I do a deed or help, I don't expect a return not even a a thank you. If I get one, it's a lovely surprise

God I'm a bitter old poof at times eh folks?
we've been together 20 yeas and his sister has never once invited us to stay the night.
Don't blame you Hosta. I would be upset too.

That's her loss - you' two are lovely company ((hugs))
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Or is it that if you don't 'stay the night' she can blithely pretend that you're 'just good friends' ?

I've never been comfortable with revenge acts
