Just love Bodmin - we stayed in an idyllic little cottage there just off the edge of the moor a few years ago - got woken around 3am by a nightingale in the garden
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Stilts of tins and string, yes! And a telephone of two tins and a long piece of string, anyone remember those? My mother was a smoker, so a regular Christmas/birthday present was a prettily decorated tin with home-made spills in it, so she could get a light from the Aga (?) stove. Were matches short in the days after the war? I can remember sugar being short, we each had our own tin for sugar, and my father's was always finished first!
Come to think of it my Mum must have thrown the 'stilts' away. I've never seen them in the attic. Yes, 1o7, I remember the telephones. I don't know about matches being in short supply but spills made sense to light the gas from the fire or vice versa. My Grandad worked for the Gas Board and had a gas fridge and gas alarm clock.
Panda - if I were you I'd grab all my stuff now before it disappears forever.
Been to SM too lily (again) and am hoping to pot up some seedlings this afternoon. Looks as though it may be in the kitchen as it keeps getting dark here Unless it's just another eclipse
Been digging up trees .....again! Beginning to feel like a lumberjack! Think the mostly dead hedge between us and next door will have to go, have done my best to just cut out the dead bits, but that means ive cut most of it out! Think i will have to have a chat with next door and explain ....ooops!
Remember my mom eating tripe, not for me thanks, its bad enough when i feed it to the dog!
Never thought i was a hoarder til i moved out last year, i dont have much in the way of clothes, but wow, i have enough craft/ art supplies to start a shop!
Sleepy now, but got to have a tidy, mom is dropping her dogs off later

Missed you there Rb. What a gorgeous view but is it a good idea to keep looking longingly at a biscuit tin?
