  • I see a number of you use plastic / poly greenhouses, I was thinking of investing in one as I have limited space for my seedling / plants.

Do they work and what problems should I look out for please if any?

    Morning all.

Wasn't me Wintersong, live about 45 mins from DD.

Forecast here for the day is rain. Raining already. Hope it's better at DDs. We are going out to lunch, late celebration of OH's birthday when we were ill.

Gardener's Boy, I don't have a little plastic greenhouse but I know people who do. They must be anchored very securely or they blow away in the wind. When it's sunny they can get quite hot inside, but if it's very cold and frosty at night they only provide a minimum of protection.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

GBoy I have a 4 tier plastic greenhouse.  I've had the frame for three years but have had to have two replacement covers. I've just been out putting the new one on.  As Lizzie says they do have to be well secured.  I find it useful for hardening plants off as they can be on the patio during nice days and zipped up at night.

It comens in handy for cuttings in the summer and for bringing on young perennials.  I have even used it over winter to keep hellebore seedlings being washed away.  That's probably why the covers don't last long as I use it all yearimage.
