Somehow I missed the Chicklet's beautiful birthday cake!!! How did I manage to do that
Just heard from plumber - he's coming tomorrow - that means I have some cooking to do today and I can get on with paperwork shuffling. Someone please nag me if I procrastinate by going out into the garden too much - I must get the paperwork finished
As for Clarkson, in my opinion he's an arrogant bully - I've always thought so and although I love cars and driving I loathe Topgear because of him. For politicians to get involved in this debacle shows a real lack of judgement.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Have a great time Hosta and enjoy OH's celebrations. Even as a dog lover I really can't stand the slobber. Breakfast will be later this morning.
Weird, eh, how we are talking about Clarkson. He had already been approached by another channel. Maybe he's upping his profile to pay for any fines.
Back to gardening - I hope to get the roots of the semi-prostrate buddleia out and plant something better for the position. Don't know what yet - there are many pots on the patio. I will take cuttings of the budd though.
I'm glad Chicklet had a good birthday, enjoy the meal this weekend Chicky family.
Happy birthday to Hostafan's OH, I hope he likes dog slobber! I don't , I agree with Lesley there!
Tomorrow I'm taking OH out to lunch for his birthday and we'll go to the piano shop and I'll buy him a piano stool. We were ill on 25th February which was his birthday, so we're doing it tomorrow.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Lesley and Lizzie, OH isn't especially fond of the dog to be honest , but the dog adores him.
When we're leaving and start to put bags by the door, he goes onto his bed and turns his back to everyone. Stays like that for a couple of hours after he's gone.
Already planted two climbers (clematis) so I can decide on my gift of five new ones and a new shrub (pittosporum Abbotsbury gold) in full sun border of reds, yellows and burnt orange/borwn and moved existing shrub (Salvia officinalis) to redundant west facing corner to fill a gap under Cotinus Royal purple, next to Crocosmia (unnamed bright orange)
How's my combos's doing Verdun?
Coffee going down well then back out to rescue Pine mugo mughus from under Phormium before its swallowed whole.
Son has no work experience today so he's offered his help in the garden...sweeeeet
Hosta enjoy your get together, sounds like fun
BL, how lovely that your OH plays the piano, is it jolly pub music or more classical?
My favourite is Mozart with his operas being particularly pleasing.
BM, we were told what to do about payment and season tickets, refreshments, plant sales, publicity. I had been asked if a coach load of up to 45 people could come, but they have decided that is too much to ask on a day when an unknown number of visitors will already be arriving, especially when a coach can't get down my drive. They've been asked to come on another day and they are thinking of coming in several cars instead. So my garden will be open on 2 days in May instead of one. The coach load will be seeing 4 local gardens and having lunch in a local restaurant, they are a gardening club on an outing.

morning all.
Off " up country" later when OH wakes up after night shift.
Staying with friends to-night, then tomorrow ( OH's birthday) my elder daughter and her boyfriend will be joining us for dinner. Much excitement.
Oh, and friends' dopey Rotty will get to slobber all over OH as he loves him.
