Home after a week with new granddaughter in London. I have ( hopefully) been a good Grannie and much as I will miss them I am exhausted! As the train gradually came north I felt my sprits rise again. Could never go back to city life, especially on strike days!!!
can hardly get in the greenhouse passed the tomatoes and wonderful to see roses finally out but disappointed no sweet peas.
mixed lettuce bed all bolted, guess it's been wet and mild?
cant wait to get into garden once had a good nights sleep! Now going to try and catch up...........l..
Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.” A A Milne
Plant in well drained moisture retentive soil in half shade. Mark it well. After it dies down for winter, you will think its died. Mine didnt reappear until late June, now galloping away. Which version of purpurea do you have?
I really enjoyed meeting Dove, she's so easy to talk to. OH was impressed with the pub! We both like them, don't have them in France.
After we'd been to the village church we went to Wootten's. I bought a red Helenium and geranium Orion (after reading reports from Verdun). They had Roscoeas, but the nursery lady said it wouldn't be happy in Dordogne.
Been to another pub, ate too much (again!) and we're now back at the B&B for an early night.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Lovely Panda
I love them.
Wonky, do you remember the big clump of them that grew on the low sloping pantile roof at Hodge Podge Cottage?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Lovely jubbly Panda
Such odd flowers they have - but quite fascinating!
I've got my thermal kecks on Lesley so I'll be fine....
Raining here now. My new lawn has a faint green glow already - seed only sown a week ago!
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
evening all,
Home from a rather hectic few days in Surrey / Hants.
Sticky labels this morning included 16 new ( to me ) varieties of Hosta and a plant I've never seen before: Roscoea Purpurea.
My neighbour has done a lovely job of watering the tunnels but much now needs done.
I'm very much looking forward to bedtime.
Hosta, glad to see you have rectified your lapse in Homebase and have attached yourself to a fair few plants by the sounds of it!
Glad you had a lovely time down the Low with Lizzie, Dove
Have a great evening all!

We have been to Trentham gardens today. Monkey forest and tiny baby macaques enchanting.. banana cafe rubbish.
Loved Piet Oudolfs planting scheme. Found more fairies. Nice boat trip back to car park.
Thai restaurant for dinner. Photos to follow tomorrow.
