I hope it's just the day that's miserable, Matty, not you.

The man who cuts my logs has been today, doing some serious pruning of a huge neglected pyracantha and some other neglected shrubs and lower tree branches. The bonfire pile is huge!

I've re-potted three blueberry bushes and planted some more violas.

Been GC today got a few bits, got a bit drench walking to the bus stop but I was on a mission plant hunting image. Didn't get Dahlia I was after David Howard or Similar or a Hydrangea panulata image . Eyeing up a climbing roses for pergola, I like Arthur bell but I am undecided yet.

Got a viburnum tinus Gwenllian for a fiver image did well there all the other ones the same size was £8. Got my lilys as well.

I don't blame you Verdun some people are so ungrateful sometimes. I just done a job on my friends motorbike. He give me a tenner, not that I wanted paying it just nice that he offered, I give it back but Its good to know your appreciated.

he is a brave man Busy lizzie  I had a few squabbles with pyracantha, they usually make a mess.. Of me image

I remember my annual squabble with a huge Pampus grass I owned, every year my arms got torn to shreds and every year I forgot to wear sleevesimage

Another thing that happens every year is my planting merry-go-round. I plant something and am happy for a week then the doubt sets in, will it grow too big,  get enough sun, clash with flowering blah blah.image

So today I moved two shrubs I planted last weekimage

OH nags me about this as it rightly annoys him but it's such a difficult decision to make and I'm a wee bit crap at the designing. I do hope next year will be more poodling in the garden and less back breaking lugging (and hiding the evidence from OH) image

Well the Reggie assessor hasn't been able to come today as she's unwell: Reggie must think its his birthday he's had grilled fish and rice for supper as what was meant to be a treat for having strangers in the house. At least we're a laid back household!

I'm sat here having grilled chicken and salad thinking he got the better deal! image

Wintersong: I'm sure you'll get the hang of gardening design soon. I'm loosing count of the number of times I've changed my mind on how HALF of the garden is going to be (the other half I daren't even think about!)

Runnybeak: I get to drive the ambulances too, and the police cars! I used to drive modern ambulances for St John but only when they were breaking down and needed a little TLC to get them too / from an event. It was a long standing joke that my first aid kit contained more car parts than bandages.

Mrs G: I'll see what I can do about the cleaning bomb. I'm rapidly loosing motivation with cleaning this house as its all in a state of "one day we will decorate this room but in the mean time His Lordship will rip out a part of it and wander off". I'm wondering about just hacking the plaster off one day when he's at work. What's the worst that can happen? (Seriously - what is the worst before I do it!!)

Wintersong - I've just rehomed 36 of the darling little black slimy devils in the time it took Reggie to do his garden patrol. Considering the harsh frost this morning I rather hoped a few would have succumbed to the elements.

Reggie is proving awful company tonight: think we walked too far He's well asleep.

I'm trying to absorb everything there is to know about asparagus growing and narrowing down which grape vine I'd like to try and grow in the greenhouse... not sure how well it'll work in Yorkshire but it will be fune to give it a try!
