If you have no where warm and light to put them, then you might as well pot them up, put them in the greenhouse, and be prepared to fleece them.

Some peoples views will differ, but if possible I would not really want to that, unless you have no other option.

Congratulations to your parents Dove, that really is something to celebrate. My first marriage lasted 2 years, although I am doing better this time, at 21 years.

    Morning everyone!  image

Sunshine now after early sleet and hail, but the wind's still keen as a knife.  Indoor jobs for me I think...  though walking to my art group yesterday through the park, with diagonal hail slashing down, I was cheered a lot by the sight of purple and white crocus now blooming with the yellow ones on a south-facing bank.  And I can see the yellow in my earliest daffs!  image

Now.  What shall I make for lunch with the Polish sausage in my fridge??  Might have to venture out to the market for a cabbage...  image

    Morning all .

9 hours sleep last night and woke to a lovely sunny morning.

OH working night shift to-night so I'll only have him this morning.

I think we're going to start splitting agapanthus including those potbound in "pot bellied" pots.

Are cobalt blue glazed pots a bit passé now?

If we have to lose one or the other it'll be the pot, not the plant.

Enjoy the sunshine one and all.

    Hello everyone!

Thanks for getting us back online Danielimage

I couldn't say morning this morning as many others also...so I went off to the gym as usual on my bicycle and I always use the cycle lanes where possible. Now I know this might be a contentious issue but there is a small patch, perhaps 300 yards without cycle lane and I use the path because the cars park either side of the road and I don't pay tax/insurance and don't much fancy arguing with a car half way along. I don't think its unreasonable of me...I mean I can't count the amount of people that walk obliviously in the cycle lanes clearly painted RED, but I just accommodate.

So, some grumpy old man ruined my day when his dog attacked my bike and he had a go at me, shouting his head of really badlyimage I was very upset about it tbh. I wasn't doing anything dangerous whereas his poor dog was untrained and nearly got under my wheelimage

So, I took my anger out at the gym and now I'm home having a coffee before the garden calls. So much to do still, aiming to clear bottom area to make room for deliveries over next few weeks. Hopefully the garden will restore my humours.

Congratulations to Dove parents for their amazing commitment to each otherimage

I've only got 41yrs to catch upimage

Sorry to hear that man was rude to you Wintersong. I wouldn't have gone on the road either.  Hope you're ok now. Treat yourself to a cuppa and cake or/and some geezersimage

very sunny day but a bit breezy. Have been for an hours walk. Don't think i've even lost an oune yet over these last few weeks image

Thank you Wintersong (horse). I wouldn't have gone on the road either. Perhaps the horrid man over reacted out of guilt at his dog's behaviour.

Well done Dove's parents. I was lucky too with loving parents, but they died before they made it that long.

Wintersong, I only learned to ride a bike in my 50th year, couldn't ride on the road if I wanted to.  Used to ride on the Staffordshire Railway Walk but after a nasty fall, gave up, deciding breaking my neck was not an option.  Ignore him, perhaps his dog will bite him one day and he'll decide he should have trained him better.

Lovely and sunny here but a bit on the gusty side.  I have popped to GC to get a bag of John Innes no 3, as recommended for my hostas by the lovely Alan T.  Two of them potted up by the new bench.  Have another 4 to go.  I have also planted my Philadelphus and Thalictrum and removed a load of suckers from the contorted hazel.

Have a shrub in the garden that is clipped to a cone shape.  I noticed that a couple of seedlings had sprung up in the garden a couple of years ago and left them to grow.  This morning I dug them up and trimmed them off and planted them in my two new pots.  No idea if they will take but they were free so I thought it was worth a try.   All my endeavours involved lugging bags of compost about so I'm taking a break with a well earned cuppa before embarking on the next job.

Most of the plants that I bought were for planned positions but I did fall in love with Garrya James Roof and bought one on impulse, now I'm struggling to find a spot for it.  Next door has sold his house, do you think when they move in the new people would notice if I moved the fence back a yard or so. image
