Bright sunshine when i woke up, just had a flurry of snow and now it looks like the sun is trying to break through again, think it will be a day more for thinking about the garden than doing it!
Did anyone see the countyfile weather forcast last night? Nice WARM weather on the way!
KEF - I probably should have done the cleaning on Saturday. But with a 04:00 finish at work followed by a day of bring toured around to look at vacuum cleaners, ovens, freezers, and a trip to Babies R Us to try and find a suitable night light for Reggie... an evening on the sofa seemed more appealing.
Tip to the wise - while in baby stores surrounded by heavily pregnant ladies it is not the done thing to see a price tag on a cot and exclaim to your partner in your-not-quite-indoor voice "good lord we spent more than that on a bed for the dog!"
I fear we provoked an argument between male "its just a cot, he wont even be in it that long" and fit to burst female "I don't want my baby sleeping in something that costs less than a dog bed!!" *cue tears* that you could hear through the entire store. Partner advised it wasn't a good idea to go and tell the couple we did have a very spoilt puppy.
Ironing is done, trying to decide whether I start on the bathroom or the kitchen, or sneak outside and sow some seeds... not sure which mark you hence nipping on here for inspiration! Any chance to escape the cleaning.
I'm also having a rethink (again) on the positioning of the greenhouses. I'm now debating them being face to face lengthways across the garden to reduce the amount of glass you can see from the house.
Darling other half needs to pull his socks up and start laying foundations before I completely change the whole layout and create much more work for him!!
Glad I can help Hostafan I do rather put my foot in things.
Snowing heavily here now so we abandoned any idea of going outside.
First layout idea for the vegetable garden. I'm trying to minimise the about of glass on view from the house but am now thinking they might be best tucked up next to each other (long sides together). Aside from cleaning being a pain in the rump can anyone think of any issues with them being close together?
Here's my now preferred idea on where to put the greenhouses (all not to scale). It minimises the amount of glass to the lawn (left) and house (below) equally so we're not left with a large area to try and merge in. There will be a gap up the middle for cleaning glass and a water butt (and no doubt all sorts of other useful things that don't belong anywhere else).
Clari, I prefer the second drawing for its simplicity although I'm not sure which side is the view from the house, so probably no help there
re snow, you poor lot! Where in this world do you live, Greenland? I forget sometimes how us southerns are so totally spoilt. An old geordie friend of mine used to call us softy-southerns
It's blue skies, fluffy white clouds and full sun here, although the wind cuts through me, although not sure if I will venture outside today. Had one of those chats with my personal trainer at the gym along the lines of sweating buckets isn't enough, you've got to push yourself harder So, I'm feeling a little pooped right now
Dove, are you leaving your agapathus as it is then, im happy to copy what you do
Clari, i just leave the lamp on in the living room rather than a nite light, its more for me than the dog, so i dont have to fumble around putting lights on when he wants to go pee in the middle of the night!
The only thing i would say with the greenhouses is imagine them full of things like tomatoes which are flippin tall, one might shade the other, it depends where the sun is in your garden really....how lucky are you to have 2 greenhouses
Winter, if i was getting paid 30 quid an hour, i could tell you to work harder, its ok for those PT children, ive got socks older than the one i saw the other day

I noticed the same Bekkie - mine's in a pot in the south-facing corner of the terrace - about as protected as it can get around here
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Clari, that actually made me laugh out loud.
Thanks for getting my day off with a laugh.
Morning all. Glad you're back in the garden Dove. Hope you're much recovered.
Glad I can help Hostafan

I prefer 2nd version as the paths all line up which makes it easier to , for example, push a wheelbarrow about.
Keep the path clear the " man shed" at all costs.
