Sorry to hear about your cold Dove, finally got over mine, blooming nuisance more than anything.Nice warm comfort food on the cards I hope for you.
Back from SM, not too bad OH came this week to help.
Question/advice needed too: I know cats not a popular topic on here but we have bought a cat flap for our cat and he just cannot work it out, despite lots of coaxing, including dangling chicken bits on the outside, he won't come through it. He managed to stick his head out and grab the chicken but then promptly went back in and say crying by the door to be let out. Any ideas - we go away next Monday and he is going to need it! Btw, our neighbours are farmers and don't have fancy gardens for him to mess up, in case any one was worried.

I hope my cold didn't cross the channel after all, Dove. In fact it's been worse than I thought to start with. Coughing and bunged up in the night, not so bad in the day.
Thank you all about the funeral. She was 84, but leaves her husband. An English couple who retired to France who I've known about 8 years.
I'm going shopping now, need groceries and food. 10 people coming to lunch after church on Sunday and daughter and her two little children coming on Monday.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Back from the gym, didn't buy anything in town, just a little bit of fridge stuff at the SM which is next to the gym and I now have plenty of room in my lovely new rucksack (with secret pockets and 49 zips)
Anyways...raining all morning here and ground is muddy in places where I've moved the bark aside to plant. Still really happy with it all though, fingers crossed it stays that way.
Show us all your lovely expensive purchases KEF or whatever you buy. Have a lovely day
Get well soon, all those with colds (seems to be spreading)
thanks for the advice on Lonicera Baggesen's Gold...not sure we will start the hedge now since I wanted to begin the process of growing one before the fencing falls down but OH wants bigger plants in the ground and whilst he says expense is no problem, I'd rather not have another *job* to do this year, so I'll just buy it all end of year.
As for buying things...a new greenhouse is def on the cards as OH is getting upset with all the plants around the house Anyone with experience of wooden greenhouses? We don't want aluminium and price isn't an issue so any recommended companies would be great
Dove, it seems to be doing the rounds im afraid, ive not shifted mine for a couple of weeks, maybe we need to get you on the selenium too! If it helps i found the cheapeat decongestants from home bargains to be the best, they havent got caffine or anything else in, hope you feel better soon
Winter, how lucky are you to get a new greenhouse! Have you looked at the company Steve the vet reccomended? He seems very pleased
P'doc, at least you know you are stressed, easier to deal with it then. If the car gives you pleasure, then hey, spend the money if youve got it, lifes too short to go without happy things! Maybe its time to get something else to fall back on and keep the one you love for special days
Sorry, got engrossed in tv while i was tryint to post, have forgotten what i was going to say!
DD, there was a cat behaviour thingy on tv here recently, on bbc 2 i think, they had the same problem, i cant remember all of it, but part of the advice was to give the cat "cover" as it comes out of the flap, they did this by putting lots of potted plants and a bench by the cat flap, thats going to be difficult by a door, but im sure you could work something out, the main thing they said is you mustnt try to force them through it or make a big thing of it. Wish i could remember what the programme was, sorry! Is there any way you can jam it open for a few days? Aparrently they instinctivly feel very vulnerable when they go through a small space, which is why they need the cover
DD - try propping the cat flap open for a few days, with tasty treats on the outside, putting them further and further away each time - it'll be draughty but it worked when I had a scaredy cat
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hi Folks, been gardening this morning, pruned all the roses and cut back holly, left all the cuttings for hubby to clear away, he was really impressed with all the thorns
Put all the pots out where I want them to go and have taken some photos so I can spend the afternoon deciding what plants I want and what seeds to grow for them. Some of my daffs are one sunny day away from opening fully and most of the other bulbs are now in bud.
We had a cat flap installed and had problems with strays coming in during the night to 'keep our cat company'. We worked so couldn't just shut her in all day and didn't want to shut her out so we altered the cat flap so it would allow her to go out but wouldn't push in on the return. We noticed that for four days she was still in the house when we got home from work and didn't seem to want to go out. I was convinced she was leaving unwanted messages all over the house and turned the place upside down until one day I watched her go out and waited for her to come back. She walked up to the flap and just kept tapping it wither her paw until it bounced enough for her to put her paw under the flap and then flipped it over her head and jumped through. They are cleverer than you think.
Where do you get all your energy from Yvie? If I get up at that time in the morning I sit with a hot drink and look through the forum, flick through a magazine or make a list
Sorry you're under the weather Dove. Pamper yourself a bit.
Hope Hosta's got on OK having the x-ray.
Expect KEF's had a lovely lunch and is pondering where to put all her new presents.
Bit chilly here to have all the windows open Rb and I'm sure my Dad would be more worried about the fivers flying out. Well he's already lost a bit today by filling my petrol tank. He's a lovely fella.
DD hope you can try a few of the tips to get the cat used to the flap before you go away. What's happening to Shadow?
Lizzie your shopping trolley will be heaving with food for all those people. You'll have great fun though
Sorry to hear about your car Pdoc. Perhaps KEF has a point with the moped idea.
Like Wintersong I think Bekkie's philosophy is wonderful
