Morning all! Still 0C here but sunny and windless, so my last-minute dash to shops in a few minutes should be pleasant.
Last minute because we're off to Ireland on the night ferry from Liverpool (driving via Morecambe - OH has to take a choir practice there before we leave!). Daughter's furniture arrives Wed and we're having a week in a B&B in the area so we can help them settle in. Plus explore a bit, and, for me, see what people are growing in Galway gardens. I anticipate being used as a gardening consultant... yay!
See you in a week or so, friends.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Not sure it's WUMs we should worry about....according to The Andrew Marr show yesterday, terrorists are using gardening websites (among others) to spread the word.
RB, ive just realised, its only us yam yams wot eat cheese and spud pie by the bucket load! I almost exclusively use it for that , made a couple of kilos of it last night

Edd, it seemed odd to me that it wanted to munch on a scented gerainium, the dot moth came up when i searched for things that would eat this type of thing , im in the west mids, so it seems it could be a dot moth thanks for your help
I agree bagged salad smells weird, so does tinned sweetcorn
Whats the nicest tasing oil to use? Just for general cooking, things like frying off veggie mince, im still trying to cut down/eventually cut out dairy, am really missing butter!
"N" it is nitrogen they put in those bags to stop oxidisation, inert, odourless, tasteless and supresses the Oxygen which causes the rapid deterioration of food stuff. One problem the second you open the packet the food will degenerate more rapidly. Cheese I love in everything though cheesy mash must be a favourite and I grate as I need, if it is blocking the grater then there is something wrong with the cheese, it is not meant to be kept in the fridge but we all do it.
Just got my eye's back after Retinal screening and of course an early start with snow on the ground well frozen, Daughter took me as you cannot drive after they flash you, or should I put that another way, such as shatter your eye balls with an atomic explosion.
WUM? what wum was that, read right through cannot spot it.
Thanks for the WUM explanation and take it easy Panda.
I've just come back in from the front garden, pruning an extremely large and unruly buddleia with a root the size of some trees. Anyways, took a long while and filled my council compost bin to max plus one large bag of the finer stuff for my own composters.
Since I already had my cherry tree removed due to it's proximity to the house, I've gained an incredible amount of space in the front garden although the weeds are still present, especially bindweed despite my persistent spraying last year.
So, I've hatched a plan to dig out some sedum and geraniums hanging about and spend the growing year getting rid of the weeds before planting up new shrubs in the autumn. I think by then, I will have worked the soil enough and have some idea of what I want to plant whilst paying absolutely not attention what so ever to Verdun's excellent shrubby planting combos that I will then steal for my own.

That might explain a lot Just as well most gardeners aren't that gullible
