  • Morning all.

Bright blue skies and sun is now shining. But thick frost every where and very chilly today.

Awww LilyP, love german shepherds, good luck when choosing.

Sorry to hear about decorator Dove, but you don't want to catch it!

Have a good day everyone, keep warm and take care.

Morning all, lovely Christmas and boxing day with Family, I counted 22 in the house at one time though they were coming and going. Clear skies and solid frost here in Stockton, I can see across the river to the Cleveland hills with snow on them.

A thought, the New Year arrives like fresh fallen snow, careful how you tread, the marks will show. Happy new year every one, expecting visitors shortly so I log off.

    Frank.

  • Glad to hear you're having such a good time Frank image and that view sounds fabulous. image

Morning allimage.  Glad to hear there was lots of laughing over the holidays - best tonic I knowimageimageimage

Sorry to hear your GH is in a bit of trouble LilyP - wrong time of year to be playing upimage.  We have the thickest frost here this morning - it looks like its been snowing, even though we have not had a flake - quite a magical scene.  Will go and have a peek in my GH later - unheated, so I expect it to be frozen, but it does keep the wet off the plants in there, which is the biggest winter threat.

another walk on the cards today, and maybe a trip to the cinema tonight.

Enjoy your days everyone (&hope not too many have had to return to work today)

Morning all, hope you all had a good time.

Sorry I need to offload. Came back from 2 days with family to a scene of utter devastation. 2 trees down, 1 fallen through greenhouse, shrubs not only flattened, but with braches snapped off.

I know we had a lot of snow in a short period, but I have not seen anything like this, in 25 years of living in Sheffield.

Well if I wasn't already in a bit of a dark place, I am now.

Sorry if you don't want to hear my moans, but I thought offloading might help.

How can you lie there and think of England

  • Oh Pdoc ((hugs)) I'm so sorry to hear such awful news!    Would the greenhouse be covered by insurance?

I hope offloading and talking to us helps you to pause and take stock - would it help to show us some photos - you know how we like making suggestions?

Oh Pdoc, how awfulimage.  Glad noone was around to be hurt or scared whilst it was happening.  Hope the damage is confined to the bits you have already seen.

On the bright side (sorry, maddening Pollyanna tendencies hereimage) you will have more light, and new planting opportunities .....but maybe too soon to be thinking about that yet.....

Carry on punkdoc, offload as much as you need. Was that just because of snow or have there been gales? I would be really upset about the greenhouse, what a mess to clear up, and an expense. Would insurance pay for another?

Have fed the horses and walked the dog, he wasn't that keen. It was -8°, but blue sky.

  • Chicky - I'm afraid I was reared on Pollyanna too - watched it on tv just the other day too image  I understand that some people find us quite irritating imageimage

It may well be too soon for Pdoc to start thinking about those new planting opportunities that you and I have thought about - but if he shows us some pics we can do some preparatory thinking for him - we can also make a wish list so that anyone with suitable cuttings etc can be ready to pot on and get things ready for him.

Of course the poor chap's feeling down - I'd be devastated too - but spring will come and we'll be here ready to help when it does image

Dove - i know for a fact I can be irritatingimage - but I am learning to sometimes curb my enthusiasm.  Its a bit like my singing, to which littlest chicklet always warns "in our heads, Mum, in our heads!!"
