Runnybeak, maybe a plane breaking the sound barrier,  every night we used to hear Concorde, at 9.30 pm. That was always two muffled bangs and the dog never got used to it.

Its been very cold and windy here, but OH has managed to get out working all day, better down in Cornwall.

    ......LYN. I don't think it was a plane as there were about 8, 9, 10 bangs. .......

RB where have you been?  It was all over the news and the press and everything!

Think the general consensus was that it was Father Christmas testing the after-burners on his new sleigh image

Morning allimage  Hope everyone is safe in the wild weather.  We have not had much excitement yet, although I can hear the wind building, and today is forecast to be bad, although not a patch on what Scotland and the Northwest are getting.

Went to the Garden group's Christmas supper last night. Jim Buttress was the speaker - very entertaining anecdotes of his gardening lifeimage.  And the allotment challenge will be back on our screens 2nd January - some gardening tv to get us through the bleak days of midwinter....thankyou bbcimageimageimage

.......  I have a tortoise shell butterfly in my bathroom that is trying to sleep. but the heat of the bath wakes it up and it flaps about in the blinds and i am afraid it might damage itself.  I would normally just put it outside but it is very cold out there and i fear i might just be putting it to its death.

Any ideas anyone. Do i leave it till spring and hope it does not injure itself or put it out now, where it might freeze?

Only 2 more baths till March for me.Will it be ok?image

We found one upstairs the other day - OH put it in a quiet corner of the garage (it's cool but doesn't freeze in there as it's joined to the house).  Have you a shed, garage, log store, loft where it would be better off?

  • image  I forgot to say good morning ......... good morning all  image......... hope everyone's hatches remained battened overnight.  Not bad here in the east, a bit of a noisy wind, but nothing like some of you've got I'm sure.  Hope no serious damage has been done image
