Although I am busy because it all falls to me, I, like Lesley am really glad I am an only child. When my OH's mum was ill in hospital they all had to ring each other everytime one wanted to do anything.
If anything was bought they all felt they had to chip in, I was used to buying a present and giving it without other people wanting to give me 2.00 towards it. Maybe I just dont understand how big families work, that's what my OH said.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Send that glass of magic over here please! Definitely need it- I'm flagging! I missed posting and seeing you guys- life just seems to fly by at the moment!
Going back to Essex to spend time with family- hoping to see quite a few people, and we have a stowaway this year, a friend of ours who doesn't really have a family and he was going to be all alone so we're including him as honorary family!
Hope you have a great time and enjoy yourself BK. Good to have a different face at the table and sure he will be a) bemused and b) delighted to share your celebrations
Just OH, two adult sons and me for Christmas day but 10 for boxing day curry . Almost the best meal of the year - depends if I get taken out to somewhere nice
I was one of 6 children so there were others who could visit my mum in the home when I was at my home in France. But if one of us wanted to buy a present we didn't all feel we had to chip in, we all did our own thing. It was lovely on my recent visit to England to meet up with 2 of my brothers (one lives in Scotland and came down south especially) and my sister. I was so glad we were doing it on our own without my mother organising it. Mummy died April 2012. She was lovely, but never really recovered from the death of my father 3 years earlier. I liked being in a big family. But my closest brother died when only 21.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Always wanted lots of brothers and sisters but theres just the two of us with a rather large age gap. So it was like being an only child at times. Got on really well with my late BIL, he was like the big brother I never had. He had the patience of a saint re my sister too. Lol
