Hiya Stacey - great to see you posting, and so pleased you are making progress. Bless your LO's cotton sox - a real gardener in the making. Many ((hugs)) on their way.
Sad afternoon today. Nearly a month ago a really skinny little cat turned up, starving. Took her to the vet for worming, de-fleaing etc. He said she was old and had missing teeth so couldn't manage to feed herself by hunting. No identification. She was very affectionate and seemed to like it here. But instead of getting better she just ate an enormous amount and had diarrhoea, which was becoming quite a problem. And my cat hated her.
Took her back to the vet this afternoon. He said she had something seriously wrong with her digestive system, probably cancer and would die soon. He said it would be best to put her to sleep. So I left her with him.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Oh busy that's so sad, I'm so sorry You gave that lovely old girl a perfect last month, she is in a better place now no matter how terrible you must be feeling now
Just thank goodness you took her in as god knows what would have happened to her. You were her angel xx
P.doc - you are so right , society needs go change which means the authorities need to get their attitude right to enable that change, not rocket science but it does seem that way.
Kef - its a huge worry that children like mine rely on parents rather than society and laws to thrive, really feel strongly for those with uninformed parents and why should a parent need to have the skills of a doctor, a solicitor, a teacher, a speech therapist and many more...
Dove - it seems to be changing for the better but we will need go look back in a couple of generations before any real change is possible.
Glad you think it's changing for the better Mrs G. One thing does annoy me - people are quite happy to donate to Children in Need - all those programmes with pictures and stories tugging at their heartstrings - and they'll happily dip into their purses to provide holidays/outings/equipment etc for children with additional needs. But when it comes to paying Council Tax everyone complains and councils have to try to keep it down. But it's our Council Tax that pays for the education, support, respite and equipment that those very same children should be having. If society was honest with itself about the real cost of paying for what children need, families wouldn't have to go to charities for essentials.
When I first started working for the Children with Disabilities team I was appalled to find out that essential equipment (e.g. a powered wheelchair that gives a child a degree of independence) wouldn't be funded by NHS or the local authority, but parents had to go to charities to fund it. I could go on ......... but it's early in the morning ........ second coffee needed ........
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning MrsG. Your son has a great Mum behind him. You are right that you should not have to become a self taught lawyer/medic/teacher .... Hope you navigate the new ways - and it ends up being a better system.
Hope Mr KEF's back is better this morning - back pain is horrible
Lizzie - so sad. The poor old thing was shown kindness in her last days - .that counts for lots.
work today, then my uncle arrives this evening for a weekend stay. He is an enthusiastic 80 something gardener, so a trip to Wisley is definitely on the cards
Good to see you Stacey. Glad your are improving and from the sound of your reading matter you will have a lovely garden next year
Hello Pauline
MrsG you are doing a great job in trying to get the best for your son. My fight for my son was about 28 years ago. It's sad that things have not improved much in all that time.
I was a bit below par yesterday - much better today but I have a lot to catch up on. Off for a look around.
Dove, good points, id nit considered the children in need aspect.
Lesley and dove, a lot of what came out at the meetings was the same fights, concerns and problems as 20+ yearsago. One case was a wheelchair funded for school but not allowed at home or in the community.
Right, sorry folks, thisisagardeni g forum, not a place to air my views and opinions. I prefer to speak on here as i feel i know you all, raather than on pro lens thread which 'feels' more public. So sorry, ill get let you get back to garden topics. Thank you for your help, wishesand opinions . Xxx
