I love viticellas, vigorous and covered in flowers. So easy to prune, just chop it all down in early Spring. I have Etoile Violette, Ville de Lyon, Princess Diana and Alionushka.

Was very courageous and cut all the old wood out of Mme Alfred Carrière today, photos on gardening thread.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Hello

I see lots of cake making, paper shuffling and loads and loads of gardening has been done.

All I have done is pot on some more seedlings and moved a couple of trays into the GH.

Also a bit of chaos sorting out what visitors will sleep on. Cleaned some ancient toys up as well to keep little one entertained.

Tree was delivered, arrived in back of a van which had a sun roof type affair on top with tree sticking out of it - result no damage at all to tree-. planting at weekendimage

Have felt really well today - hopefully will just keep improving now.

Ok, just started reading the page before this one, whats Clarkson done this time?
  • Wow, this is a busy thread! Thanks for all the welcomes.

I've got 3 pear trees, a conference, fondant de automne and doyenne du cornice. I'm not a big fan of pears but other half and little un will hopefully enjoy them when they eventually give us fruit. I can't put away the paintbrush just yet - need to paint the fence and get the wires in place asap as we're planning on training the trees into oblique cordons as it's a smallish garden. Unfortunately every time I have some spare time to crack on with it the weather is lousy or it has been so wet the wood is really damp.

At the moment I have peas, rocket, chives, cosmos and a single marigold I've grown from seed, and have just planted sunflowers and carrots. I'm also trying to keep a load of lemongrass alive that my mum had me sow last year. Gardening is sort of the the blood, my great-grandad was head gardener on an estate back in the day, and nan and mum are both pretty obssessive about their gardens. Looking forward to getting mine looking lovely!
