  • Sounds like al lovely evening OL, just the sort I like best. We have to go to our village autumn fete tonight, big thing in the village, a fun fair in town so sproglet has to be taken. They do have a wine stall so all is not lost!

Garden not looking great quite yet, a gardening club member visited this morning - for encouragement - and said what I need most is a full time gardener, hmm, thought that was what I was, obviously not full time enough. Manure is super though and I have turned all the compost in the other heap and started a leaf bin, well collected leaves and put in bin, am going to make a chicken wire crate for them tomorrow - she says, will try my best anyway - how difficult can it be?

Haven't got an Ipad but laptop built in mouse often just wipes off everything you've written, so feel your pain. image

Posts crossed, Good luck to your son OL from what I've heard the DofE s far from easy so hats off to him.  Enjoy the peace and quiet, and the wine.

I hate touch screens and stick to the lap top it means I cant post on the go but I manage.

Just cleared up the BBQ. 38 came and it was a lovely afternoon. Forecast was wrong! Must have been all your good wishes! image Went well and people looked happy.

DD, manure is great stuff, but never heard it called "exciting" before!

I haven't done any proper gardening for ages. My autumn plug plants, violas etc arrive next week. Will soon be time for the big autumn clear up. Planning on lots of tulips, violas and forget-me-nots. In 4 months the snowdrops will be poking up.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Bekkie off to London another day,  weather not too good, boys and dils turned up anyway so have stayed in andd had a lovely family day. All off out later for meal.

Looks more like end of October out there today brrrrrrr.

  • Hello all

Just back went to the station with long armed cutters sawing of bits of trees much clearer now 1 garden waste bag full all into garden waste bin just, when you went down the path you could not see the train electronic sign well with the train times on or busses for today

A few plants got planted out too, my top of arms and hand are a bit shaky it is holding the long armed saw heavy

I ordered the allium bulbs the other day so will be waiting a while for mine

I am going to go with the wallflower offer 50 bare root plants from woolmans - not heard of them before good being bare root they should at least be bigger than some of the T&M plantlets quite a few will go up the station

I wanting to do a layered bulb pot this year have done some before enjoy planting up pots and baskets

Glad you enjoyed your BBQ Busy-Lizzie I could smell it here when I went into the garden - some one must of been having one near by

Lesley and Bekkie  not sure we could have anything in the ground as it would be too difficult digging any hole not sure we have anywhere we could do that

Issue with health and safety we did have a big drum that main man put in one of those blue drums for water,  concrete slabs in bottom to secure it and tied up, we filled with about 40 litres of water butt water we had in bottles it had a net put on top too more H&S issues with school kids may dunk other kid heads in it  -  it disappeared we emailed main man, then we got an email from main man saying South west trains took it away did not like it being there - so that was one down then later the water butt stand stolen then a few months later the water butt even though we had black writing on it garden water and out phone no saying it was out property

Well it is different not being your own garden

All the plants still looking good and flowering

You were smiled on today Lizzieimage

Lucky day for you OL.image  Enjoy the peace and quiet (and wine).  What does big boy have to do this time?

Enjoy your meal lily.  Hope you haven't had to be rushing around after everyone else today and they've had a chance to spoil youimage

DD - it will be easy to make a leaf bin if you have the chicken wire and posts.  I had one once but can't remember what happened to it.image. Now I use bin bags with holes in the bottom.  Enjoy your autumn fete (and wine).  That's two of you nowimage

Gg I'm sorry to hear how problematic it is to get a water supply to the station. Perhaps you had better start learning how to rain danceimage

  • Hello folks - glad to see everyone seems to have had a good day - TWIGS had a lovely time at West Acre image  (Trips With Iceni Gardeners) image

On a train home from York - successful day (another Uni to add to the list of potentials) - but a long way for a daytrip! Still, chicklet loved it, and is all fired up again at the thought of her future. Best not let her know her Mum is crying inside image . Got enough sense to keep that as my secretimage

Glad the West Acre trip was a success - great pics on the other thread - an inspiring place !
