Busy afternoon once I got going image

Put another timber edge in for the grass going in front of the pond. Took ages - I'm far too particular image Started digging the ground over which will take a while so I'll do it a little at a time. It's all compacted where I've been working at the pond/screen etc, and the whole area was gravel previously. Full of stones and roots so it's a bit of a slog.

Cottage pie for dinner so I now feel 'fat and cheap' as a friend used to say! image

You've been busy archie. Satisfying when you see some results from your labours though. image

Mature phormiums can be tough MrsG - I had to use a saw on one of mine earlier this year to split it. Anemome 'Whirlwind' is lovely. Mine are flowering away just now - lovely along my shady back fence and another shady corner.

Off to put my feet up with a cuppa. Enjoy the rest of the evening image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I remember you commenting about phormium fairy! How tall is the whirlwind? back of border?

Mine are about 3 feet, but I think they're supposed to be around the same as Honorine Jobert etc. Perhaps mine are stunted by the weather and the clay soil image

Actually, one clump is in a raised bed which is largely compost but perhaps it's restricted there a little too, and there's a lot of planting round it for competition. This pic was taken a  couple of weeks ago. A lot more flowers on it now

Shattered this evening, I think it was tidying up after the trees were cut down/back.  Wont get another gardening fix for a couple of days as I'm back on nanny duty until Tuesday night (unless I can fit in a quick visit to the local GC).  I have bought the paint for the garden shed so hopefully I'll be able to get it painted on Wednesday. I really hope it brightens up the corner of the garden and draws attention away from next door's extension.

Fairygirl, I'm still thinking of joining you by creating a wildlife pond, but thinking about it is as far as its gone so far.
