There must be companies with things they can donate, even if its tbe stuff they cant sell like ripped bags of compost. I really hope this goes well, looking forward to seeing the display next year! Great idea
As much as its a bit rubbish that the growing season is coming to an end, im quite looking forward to the autumn telly, scott and bailey is back on soon, strictly, thru t' keyhole, fab!
Enjoyed GW too - love heleniums. I have moorheim beauty and sahins early. Like Lizzie, i loved the really dark red one - does anyone grow it, or know what its called??
love the dig for victory idea Clari! If worst comes to worst old coffee cups do as starter pots for plants (we have started tomatoes in them before now) - if you start saving now you'll have loads next easter.
off to watch my goldfinches have their breakfast...
Well the weather overnight led me to believe it wasn't going to be a nice but it's sunny Not quite shorts weather, but will need the sunnies I think
Better get up and get a wriggle on, have to pop into town for a 5th birthday card for littlest niece and then decide if I'm going to do the digging today
Hi Clari, do I remember someone on TV making pots out of newspaper using a pot as a mould wrapping the paper around the outside. Paper may have been damp to help moulding. Toilet roll inners work too and both can be planted out entire. Your volunteers could set up a work shop to produce them. Shame I don't live near. I have thousands collected over the years.
I'm off to hospital visiting. Dad is getting better by the day, he managed to get out of bed yesterday. Tomorrow I expect we'll have to strap him in to keep him in bed.
I'll cut him a bunch of grapes from the greenhouse. He had some last week, said they were sweet but had pips in. No pleasing some folk. Morrisons grapes have no pips but were not sweet enough. My nephew complained that the worcester apples off my tree were not sweet enough. One of the girls at work said they would be alright for her horse!!!
I see that twelve nunns nursery have Trillium grandiflorum plenum and T. roseum..
"Alright for her horse" - .... Hope thats the last time she gets offered bounty from the fidget patch. Glad to hear Dad is back raring to go - now we can see where you get it from
An update on the cuttings front ... all but one of my lavender have collapsed, so just gone out and had another go (probably too late, but nothing ventured etc etc). But my penstemmon and agastache are looking pretty healthy 6 weeks after i took them ... Hopefully will have a den of vipers for the garden next year (black adder and blue boa ....I'll get my coat)
Hello everyone I did Pandas trick and overslept.......good job it wasn't tomorrow morning!! Alarm didn't go off and was meant to leave at 8 to take the hounds on hollibobs, woke up at five to....oops Anyway, caught up now and just having 5 mins before I finish the cleaning.
If I don't get back on later, I'll see you all in just over a week.
