Evening all. Just back from Veg/Flower show and the good news is that I won three prizes out of the six entries so not bad at all.
I got third prize for perennials 2 varieties (3 of each), I put in three japaneze anemones and three yellow ox eye scabra; third prize for my sweetcorn (minipop); and second prize for a collection of 9 flowering stems (at least 3 different varieties), I put in two dahlias, kerria, 2 x zinnia, salvia Victoria and a penstemon.
It was a very good day as I did not expect to win anything as I had never entered a show before. Did not realise quite how much effort it takes to enter a show - you have to be up early to get things ready and then display everything for the judges, then you have to go back to see how you did and wait for prize giving to be able to take your entries home.
Have spent the afternoon pulling/scraping/clearing the gaps in between the patio slabs. Phew it was hard work, but now feel satisfied
Have taken a couple of pics of one of my beds so will find the garden gallery thread later, just don't look to closely or you'll spot the weeds
Can I have some curry for tea too please KEF? Not sure what OH and I will eat yet. Not sure he deserves feeding as he's been slumped in front of sport all day as Virgin have the Sky Sports channels for one day only Still, keeps him quiet and out of my way
Hi Panda and Lily glad you had good days allbeit very different. Congratulations GG, its always nice when hard work is rewarded. Ive had a bit of a lazy day today just a bit of deadheading and tidying. Hubby is cooking tonight to Im planning to carry on being lazy until bed time.
Hello folks! Got friend's car fixed eventually by Green Flag's people. Then we had a late lunch and wandered around the garden. Since then we've been chatting and looking at photos. OH is home from the Farm Shop and we both have our feet up.
Friend is having a nap - she didn't sleep too well as she was worried about her car. She's insisting on taking us out for a meal this evening (going to the place I went with Snoodle and Panda after East Ruston visit) so the daube of beef can feed us another day. It'll keep for ages in the fridge, or I can portion it up and freeze it.
Gg, congratulations! Local hort. soc. shows are such fun aren't they?
