Busieeee, what a picture. Local chateaux if you will! You live in a clearing in a forest.? ... I can barely breathe...oh wow. Think I'll rename.you goldilocks. Seen pics of your wonderful garden but now you drop that in the mix...call PDoc I can't breathe. Smileys galore.
Glad you like it Mrs. G. When we bought the house in 1990 it had been on the market for years and unlived in for 6 years. No one wanted it because of the isolation and the state of the house, but, once you get up the 1 km long drive (which was in a state in those days, better now) it's only 20 mins drive to the town. Hard work in the early years though, but I was younger then.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
You all sound like you're making the most of the Christmas break and even enjoying the cold weather.
My days have been full of dog walking & training, he is adorable but lot of work at the moment until he settles down a bit. Enjoyed some fabulous walks though & some glorious sunrises & sunsets. Head torch was a very good investment too.
Unfortunately he ate his way through the 'dog crate' after the 2nd night (was originally for getting cat from UK to here so not dog proof). Have ordered a new one, hoping it will be here tomorrow, but as he also tried to eat his way through the downstairs doorway have had to sleep downstairs on the sofa bed to stop him from wrecking the joint. He is going to be so disappointed when his new 'den' arrives.
Did manage to get a bit of tidying up in the garden done, picked last of the apples and leaves up and dead headed some roses which are still going strong unbelievably.
Quiet night in front of the fire tonight with a new book and a glass of red, giving it up for January so need to get it whilst I can.
Whatever you are all doing enjoy & stay safe & warm in the chilly weather.

Dd, one of our labs 'ate through a doorway', removing the architrave and door lining! It was separation anxiety - a radio left on quietly on a talking channel, and my smelly old coat as a bed worked wonders. Good luck - he'll be worth a bit of work
OH wants to know what I want for my birthday (end of Jan) - decision made - I shall give him a list of a few varieties of snowdrops I'd like and he'll order them 'in the green' Perfick!!!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Shadow definitely the right name for him Dove, hope it doesn't come to him taking the architrave off, he just wants me in his sight all the time. If we weren't a B&B I would let him sleep upstairs but I have to keep it spotless up there and as much as I don't mind a bit of doggy smell, don't think the guests will appreciate it.
Apparently a 'dog crate' is the answer for night times, fingers crossed, will throw a smelly coat of mine in too, see if that helps.
My birthday too at end of January, hoping for a garden bench, will have to drop in a few reminders I think.
Mrs G, cheers.

My house is in a clearing in the forest beyond the field.
Went out for a walk this afternoon, chilly 2° but sun was shining.
Local chateau.
