Just drove down to Waitrose in the village - 10 mph max, headlights on full, wipers on fast and still couldn't see where we were going - drenched Waitrose customers in shorts and tee shirts and flipflops splashing about in the car park - we got home just in time for thunder and lightning as we got out of the car, a river running down the road in front of the house and a lake on the terrace in the back garden.
Think my outdoor tomatoes may be getting over-watered
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
The rain started at midnight here and hasn't stopped since (which I'm very thankful for!) Like fidget, my garden is parched with soil dry down to at least a foot which I discovered when digging up some spuds the other day. Planted 45 young leeks (well, quite old leeks actually - should have bunged them in weeks ago) yesterday so they should now be nicely watered in! One 50l bag of FYM per row dug in first, so they should have every chance of growing to a reasonable size.
If any of you have had enough of the rain, please ask Fairygirl to "magic it" this way - another 12h would be perfect!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Lily, that horse is beautiful, that was my dream as a little girl
Well, all ingredients bought for chutney, off to the gym for a swim soon then will get the chutney on so it can cook out whilst I tackle the ironing.....that's the plan anyway!!
I hope all those with early bad rain stay safe.....no more venturing out to the shops, you must have food in the cupboard/garden
Oh, I forgot about Blackpool airshow......so much for cooking in peace!!

OL, I could always get a horse like this......wouldn't cost much to feed
Doesn't produce anything of use in the garden though
, SGL, although it will be cheap to feed, and no vets bills, apart from the odd bit of woodworm
Lol, fidget.....yes it would be just my luck it had woodworm!
Id love a horse or a donkey too Lily, but the last time i met a donkey i got fleas! Think i wil give it a miss!
