If you are lucky 2 years after you lift them or probably 3. But they will then add more flowers every year. I now have some that are too congested and need some work. Will try heavy feeding, or if that fails , I will try to split them up.
I once visited Kelways during Chelsea week and bought irises which had been grown for Chelsea but were a bit early or late. Turned out brilliantly in my garden for first few years altho' I have fallen out of love a bit, now that I am trying to reduce my workload. Short flowering season and weedy problems. Have to be lifted and replanted every 3/4 years. Mine were all dug up to make way for the Terrace, repotted for giving away and selling at next year's plant sale. I must have 30 or 40 babies. So overall a very happy result.
My mom is 60 very soon, they are taking a holiday to the north east and will visit my step bro while there. Ive found an experience day which is a garden pass and cream tea for Alanwick garden.
Have any of you been? Is it any good in september?
Hi all. Been to the Botanical gardens today, and they were lovely as usual
Then had a nice walk up to Forge Dam [ for those that know Sheffield ]
Bekkie, I have not been Alnwick, but have seen pictures and it looks lovely.
I really struggle to grow bearded Irises and I dont know why. I do all the standard things, but rarely get flowers. Any ideas? Could it be my slightly acid soil?
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
We had steady rain from about 5am until 1ish - then we had strong sunshine and what I can only describe as a sauna - it's clouding over again now, don't know whether we'll get any more rain - tomorrow's forecast is dry so that's good - taking niece to the Suffolk coast this time, and then to a concert at Snape Maltings in the evening
We went up to the farm shop earlier to see OH and buy a crab for lunch - I just had to pop into the GC to get some birthday cards ........... and somehow I came out with some Perovskia Blue Spire and some Allium christophii bulbs - how did that happen
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
