Morning all, Not so early for me this morning had a better nights sleep with antihistamine, however another new crop of bites from last night. I think I might wrap myself in a mossy net to water this evening. No rain again and non forecast but I am absolutely loving the summer, can't remember when I last watched tv and spending every day in the garden is a real treat. I bet you're pleased that the puppy has gone back Bekkie so you can get some sleep, its nice that hes only over the road so you can still get the occasional cuddle.
Could do with one of those bacon butties I'm starving and need to go shopping so it will just be toast for me this morning. Can't go out as I'm waiting for delivery of the pink parasol that hubby was so pleased about (not). What he doesnt know is that after he moaned about it I ordered pink cushions and bunting to go with it!!! Off to have a mosey around the garden catch you later.
Morning Yvie, sorry you're still suffering. When I was researching things to do with my lavender yesterday it said that you can rub it on your body when fresh as an insect repellant, never heard that one before but maybe worth a go maybe?
You need to post a picture of your pink purchases on the shabby chic thread and well done for 'persuading' OH, mine would hang me up with the bunting if I bought pink I think
Hope everyone is okay. there's just been a few heavy showers this morning but probably not enough to soak in.
I'm lucky that I don't get bitten too often by mozzies. I was reading that they are reseaching why some dogs never have fleas. My dog never has but maybe it's because he's not fat or smelly.
Went to Glastonbury, amazing, despite the storms and mud, or, perhaps because of them. Loads of stages, theatre, circus, films and 175000 other people. Oh and perhaps most important, lots of cider. I did not think i liked cider, well I do now.
Back home, down to poorly mums for a week, worked out that despite my previous occupatiom I am not a very caring person.
Lovely week in Gairloch, Western Highlands. Stunning weather, there is no more beautiful place on earth, when the sun shines.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Hi Punkdoc - good to see you - we were beginning to wonder whether you'd gone AWOL!!!
As for liking cider, well there's cider and then there's CIDER
Being a caring person ....... it's very hard when the roles are reversed ....... very hard indeed ............ and despite your previous profession, and mine , when it's 'family' you cannot have that professional 'distance' and it is so emotionally draining.
Western Highlands??? Love that area ........ when the sun shines Doesn't seem to coincide with my visits very much
How's your garden?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Spent lots of time wistfully looking at the mountains I used to climb, before obesity, lack of fitness and general laziness stopped me.
A few days in Ballater, Eastern Highlands with MIL, and then back to mums, where I have been since.
She is now physically much better, but is so frail and very miserable. I dont think she is able to look after herself, but she refuses outside help and, point blank refuses to discuss any possibility of a home.
Both my sisters are now on holiday from teaching, and are going to take it in turns to stay with her until September, when I will take over again.
There is something deeply discomforting watching the person who cared for you for such a long time, and whose strength and will power I used to marvel at, fall apart in front of you. Cherish them while you still have them.
Sorry I have no idea what any of you have been up to. I hope you are all well, and that your gardens are blooming. Wellcome to any that have joined in my absence.
Hopefully I should be around more now, but I have a lot of soul searching to do.

Oh Punk, that can't be easy, so sorry for you. My parents are still only in their early 60's so nowhere near that stage yet but I know from my nana and OH's grandparents how difficult it can be. You are probably a much more caring person than you realise, you must be to be able to look after your mum like that.
As for us, not been up to much really, a couple of changes with work for people, lots of gardening, some cake, some Pimms.....the usual really I suppose for summer

Hello everyone, anybody remember me?
It seems such a long time since I was here.

Hi Punk, of course we remember you, we have been wondering where you were and hoping that all was ok with you and your mum.
Sounds like you be been having a busy and fun time (apart from maybe the necessary week in the middle?). I hope your mum is better now.
