Afternoon all. Too hot for me out there for doing anything energetic after work - just a bit of re potting, watering and deadheading. I'm going to take the girls out soon for something to eat (ice cream definitely!) and then go out in the garden as it might be cooler. Oldest fairy has just told me it was hotter here today than Florence. Not sure why or how that's happened! It's usually high thirties/forty there in July
Glad you had such a good result for last Saturday Woody.
Will have a quick look round here to see what's been happening before I head out. Catch you all later
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Love blackberry jam, sieve them to get rid of the pips. Don't like them in my teeth!
Have daughter no 2 here and 2 of her friends. That makes (with my OH) 7 adults, 5 small children and 2 babies. Daughter No 1 and OH and 3 small sons coming tomorrow. Have I said all that already? Starting to feel confused, meal times are pretty noisy! We are escaping to Yorkshire on Saturday. Said that before!
No time for gardening, but must freeze some runner beans, they've gone mad.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
"Happened to me with some strawberry jam once (it came out the consistency of boiled sweets )
I heated it up with a combination of water, apple juice and lemon juice and managed to get an acceptably loose set. It wasn't the best jam I've ever made, however, and I used most of it for baking.
I shall keep my fingers crossed for your gardening board friend,....."
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Big and little Panda are back home from their jaunt to the seaside Had a lovely time, was very relaxing and the company was great
Came back to some very thirsty plants, the under gardener had forgotten my watering instructions The plants will recover but I would have liked them to look nice for tomorrow as I have a friend round in the afternoon.

Here you are Muddyfork - two suggestions both from experienced jam makers here http://www.wildfood.info/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=12046&p=307999#p307999
