Oh dear.  My kitchen is 41 years old - an original Hygena QA.  We are thinking of opening to the public for viewing this ancient piece of history.  In an ideal world I would like a Shaker style kitchen.  We also have a lurid pink bathroom suit as an added attraction.image

Kef - I use cheap plastic mini greenhouses.  I have got three of various sizes and when they are all up in a row it looks like a small village.image

Sounds good to me Forester image

  • Just got back from seeing SIL, didn't walk very far as it was raining image so we had a sandwich and a few cups of tea and a lovely long chat..........oooh and a piece of cake...........well it would be rude not to, as there was so many to choose from image

Hope you've all had a good day.

Still chilly here but it has stopped raining at last.

  • Evening all, as they say. image

No gardening today, had a phone call last night from a French lady wanting a room for two nights so had a little panic and had to get ready, had thought B&B all done for this year and had half shut guest rooms up, all had to be got out again. Can't complain, nice bit of unexpected dosh. I was so surprised by the call when she asked the price I gave her the summer one and luckily she didn't argue/query it so even better - good job it wasn't Verdun, I would be paying him. image

1st Friday of the month is book club/coffee morning exchange thingy to so got myself a new book to read for these long evening.

Also treated myself to a new pair of boots, haven't worn old ones since leaving UK and I have looked high & low and can't find them, thinking perhaps they got left behind, OH kept nagging about packing too much junk at the time. Anyway, very pleased with my new purchase.

Keep fit class tonight too, although usually more chat than keeping fit, all good fun. Made some tomato soup for dinner too, wish could say used my own toms, but they are long gone. Did throw in a potato, an onion and basil out of the garden though. image

A new kitchen is well and truly on my wish list, it sort of looks ok but working in it is a nightmare. OH really doesn't appreciate the problem and so therefore it is not on the 'high priority' list. Apart from anything else haven't actually seen one I like here yet anyway. Next year though, it is definitely going on the 'nagging until he gives in' list! image

Right off for the soup, best wishes to all sick and fed up people, enjoy your evenings. image

Turned out lovely here today - so  much for the rain. I even got washing out and more green manure sown. Had said I'd take youngest shopping after school which I regretted as I could have got it finished. Never mind image

I will be netting off most of the sides of the new table Lesley and leaving a gap at the back where it's against the fence and under the 'window boxes' on the fence top.. I'll foil those pesky critters image The little birds have all learned how to negotiate getting into the makeshift hanging one - even the dunnocks image

The kitchen as my last house was like a Swedish sauna with pine cladding everywhere including the vaulted ceiling.  We ripped it all out and opened it up. The new people got a very, very nice new dining kitchen....image  Such is life. I remember looking at a house that had a navy bathroom suite. Not good.

Looking on these freebie sites and gumtree sounds a good idea for the greenhouse doc.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

DD I can't imagine why you need to go to a keep fit club image Are you the teacher ?

Glad you got some new boots. Until I joined the forum and read posts from Lizzie I imagined the Dordogne was a lovely mild place in the winter, geography and climatics obviously not my thing.

  • Kef, I might dash around like a mad thing all day, but with wine, cheese and delicious French pastries everywhere you go, it is tough to resist, the keepfit/running thing is merely damage limitation. image

Yet to experience a winter yet, but by all accounts it may be short but certainly not sweet, been told might get as low as -18 at night. Autumn has finally arrived this week, although sun was out in the afternoon and got up to 15°. Think I'll be making plenty more soups though before spring. image

KEF, I think you mean Spain!

Was only 12° here and you are north of us DD. Weather can differ quite a bit only a few kilometres apart.

Went to see friend in hospital, he seemed quite perky, going to convalescence soon. There is a lovely place in the forest, convalescence, re-hab and old people's home, converted from a chateau.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
