Pdoc - enjoy!!!  It's tipping it down here so hope the weather picks up for you.  We might even head that way ourselves at the weekend just to give ourselves a break from Aged P stuff.  Check out the Jolly Sailors at Brancaster Staithe - good food and good beer, and Brancaster Staithe is one of our most favourite places in the world to sort our heads out with wide open spaces, mud, wind and seabirds image

Changing the subject, I'm looking for a tall Echinacea, my mom use to have some that grew to about 5-6 feet and purple flower always covered in butterfly's during the summer.

I've looked everywear for it but cant find any that tall, with all this expert  knowledge on here I just know someone will know it image image and where I can purchase would be great.

Echinacea purpurea 'Magnus'?  https://www.woottensplants.com/product/echinacea/echinacea-purpurea-magnus/ They describe it as being a bit shorter than you say, but I've seen it top 5 ft.

  • Thanks for input I do wish these on line sellers would name the plants properly.

BL  they just have it as  Echinacea purpurea  but the height they give looks promising

    DFA Magnus looks a  possible.

I have also been given Echinacea purpurea - 'Ruby Giant' by a friend on another site.

I feel a trip around the garden centres  is called for purely for  research purposes you understand image

    Morning all.

Edd I know where you are coming from.  I too never find it easy to talk about personal things such as bereavement and I expect my messages sometimes seem a little short on sympathy.  I sometimes think it comes from being raised in a house that was never very touchy feely and where you were expected just to get on with it.  I know that everyone on here appreciates that we are not all the same and I'm sure they realease that our words are kindly meant even if they are not as poetic as some.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better Matty but don't get too excited and do yourself a mischief.

On a lighter note have just had a stroll round the garden (in the rain)image.  Everything is looking fresh and georgeous.  I can't wait for things to fill out.  I always have to be really strict with myself at this time of the year as I feel a desperate need to fill every gap. (sorry Verdun) I know I need to leave room for the plants to grow but it is so hard to see that bare soil.

    Enjoy your birdwatching Punkdocimage

morning all, he says after sleeping for 9 hours. image

To be fair, I only had 6 hours the previous 2 nights. Mysleep patterns are rubbish.

On a plus note, I'm going to work later to discuss my return next week.

Very windy and chilly in these parts so might hide in the polytunnel for a potter.

    Nice to see you Dove,

    Good news Matty.

    love to all.

  • Morning all, just a pic to show how my root trainers made from toilet roll & kitchen roll tubes are getting on. Made the box and sowed seeds on 13th Feb. pic below taken this morning. 3 seeds per station and have thinned out the weakest seedlings (mostly)

  • Hello all, I'm new to the site, and look forward to all things growing.  My seedlings are doing great too, I like the toilet roll tube idea- will certainly be using it in the future

  • I have a question for Yviestevie - How long did your Lobelia Cascade take to germinate?
