I vaguely remember watching something that said the ants know its going to be stormy, and that triggers the swarm, but as per usual i cant remember why!!!!

Good morning allimage  Raining here this morning.

Ahh - you think it's thunder but it's those tiny little feet in their millions making that loud rumbling noiseimage  That reminds me of an old Tom & Jerry cartoonimage

Hope everyone has a good day.

Seriously, the ants swarm in thundery weather because they use the rising thermals to fly high - sometimes thousands of feet into the air where the queens mate before drifting back to the ground well away from their original nest and start a new colony image

You can sometimes see them being picked off by flocks of birds high up in the sky

Loads of early birds on here! My mum wasn't so imaginative. I was told thunder was clouds bumping into each other!

I just wish the flying ants wouldn't all choose the same day. Yesterday was horrendous just trying to not tread on them all!

Morning all! Today is interview day and of course that toe is so swollen I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get smart shoes on! Oh well - flip flops would be a conversation starter... image

I spent five hours hand sewing a friends wedding gift yesterday. I'm only half way through and am starting to see why people just buy ice cream makers now! It's only a simple design and had I used the machine I'd be done by now but that would have been far too sensible. Still; at least non of my other friends are marrying so I don't need to start a trend!
